I got this motor a month ago and it recently started cutting out. I traced the problem to the fact that there isn t really a shield on the wiring going into axle. I fixed it a few times but then yesterday I got tired of the poor wiring harness and cracked open the case to see what i could do to improve it. Now that i have pulled all the wiring out and have the new wiring ready to install I cannot for the life of me manage to get the harness through the axle. Is there a special tool to push the wiring through? I tried everything including fishing line! I figure it should have a casing on it as opposed to pushing just the wires through as that would make it pretty fragile like before. The whole axle was full of sludge. I plan on sealing it way better if I can ever get the harness through. I ve tried contacting the guy at BMC in Cali but to be honest that guy has not been much help at all. Not even a manual on the website.

thanks I already saw that thread. My motor doesn't really look like that. That does not look like it would be quite as hard to get the wires through as mine. on my motor the wires are fed thru and come out the other end of the axle after passing an elbow. I can t even get the stoick wiring to go back in. It's really tight. Theres got to be a way though. still no word back from the guy at BMC. he really works on his own time.

We've had quite a few motors come in for wiring repair/replacement. The only method of re-threading the harness that has worked for me is first threading a single wire (or a loop of wire) from the inside out, then soldering the end to the harness, and pulling. Grease helps a bit, but not much. It's a slow, frustrating process, but I've successfully gotten the BMC replacement harnesses through.

thats great thanks. I ended up doing something like that and got it all hooked up and am amazed that it works again. how much do you sell a replacement harness for for the bmc v2t? is the eight strand harness something common I get locally? thanks again for the pic and advice.
