Hello, I just picked up a Rambler and It does not have quick release levers to adjust the boom. For transport to the trails i need to adjust the boom so the trike will fit in my car. I would like to be able to do this with a quick release instead of using an allen wrench every time.

Looks like I need 2 of them. Where can i buy these. I dont see any options on the Terratrike site unless i get the Chain Gobbler which i do not need because i am the only rider.

Let me know if anyone has found some of these quick release levers that will fit on my trike

Thanks

If you want help, you'll need to specify the thread size and fastener length you need.

M6 and M8 are common QR seat binder sizes, from 40mm to 60mm in length.

Looking at some diagrams, it looks like the clamp bolts are M5. So, to adapt an M6 seatpost skewer, the existing holes would need to be drilled out to 6mm (or drill the first hole and re-tap the second for M6 threads).

It looks like the holes are counterbored for M5 screw heads, so to prevent brutalizing those surfaces, it will also need stepped washers for the QR to clamp on.

Wheel QR skewers are M5 x 0.8, so those would work if they were cut down short enough and rethreaded.

Well that would be the best solution. A 5mm die with the same thread pitch as the stock bolts costs maybe $5. Since they’re sold in pairs, there’s even one to practice with.

This is what customer service said over at Terratrike:

We have the quick release levers in stock, they are $7.95 each (TT000826). However, they don’t come with sleeve washers, so there will be some slop where the QR’s interface
with the frame, but, some washers may keep it snug?
You’re welcome. I would think if you could find a sleeve washer, that would be ideal, as that’s what we use, but we don’t have them as an off the shelf part, it only comes
with the whole chain gobbler kit.

I’m sorry, since we don’t normally sell them without the gobbler, we aren’t able to get a picture of it, we don’t have a way to check it. You are welcome to purchase them,
and if they don’t work, you can always return them, you would only need to pay for return shipping.

should i just order them and purchase my own sleeve washers? it would be a total of $26 which is for 2 qr's + shipping

👍 Probably. Seems like the safest way to go.
I’d probably make them myself, only because I usually tend to go the DIY route if there’s a chance of acquiring a new tool, even if it’s only $5 or $6 lol. Plus I’m cheap.

Be aware that the sleeve has two diameters.
The smaller diameter replaces the head of the bolt.
Larger diameter is what the quick release needs to push against.
The quick release may not work correctly if the diameters (or lengths) are wrong.
Hopefully the factory correct sleeve washers can be purchased too.

Seems correct.
Might even work without the spacer sleeve.
