Good plan. Most usually evolve that way. Definitely CA is a must.

I would say that CA is one of those items that removes a person's 'noobness'. Multimeter is another one.

One question, do you have the rear bag secured with anything because the little Velcro straps they come with kind of suck?

Yes, I slotted the bottom of the bag(with a soldering iron) to fit a 1-inch wide ratcheting tie down to loop around the rack and battery. I used a sheet of rubber to isolate the strap from the top of the battery. Feeble hook and loop straps and Bungee cords just weren't enough.

Installed a new Kruzer King saddle and had to replace the battery bag with a heavy duty nylon cordura tool bag because the bag included in the kit fell apart.

Approaching close to 500 miles now, no major problems. I'll never get used to how heavy SLAs are(especially 22AH), however I only have half the money saved to buy a PING LiFePO4, so maybe once riding season has started back up I'll get to ordering that. 2 sets of V-brake pads gone in 500 miles and the tires are at about half tread. Tightening spokes every 50-100 miles. Replaced one broken spoke on the back rim and I discovered the axle is ever so slightly bent too. I have a spare wheel and a double wall rim to switch over to it along with Wheelsmith straight 14 ga spokes.

Shopping for an axle, I hope I find the right one for my wheel.

Just installed a new set of tires, the only whitewalls with a decent tread out there.

Time to put the batteries in the triangle! Even a lighter LiFePO4 battery at 20ah will be weighty on a rear rack.
