Buying forest land, implementing solar

I am guessing people make meth all over the usa, and not all are mexican's. Also you might get more done if you started working on all your project's and did not post on the net. JMO and good luck.

Well, we all know he has the only coconut, the only old van, the only spear. God forbid anyone else cut down a tree, eh?

Oh, windshields crack very easy. I wind up coming out in the morning to yet another cracked windshield every few years. I suppose I might have a stalker that does it, or . . . ?

I wonder if those drug trade fueled bodies buried on your land might rise and walk the night, seeing revenge, eating brains. . . .

If so, sounds like you're safe there afterall.

Yeah, but do you really want cheap knockoffs? Buy yours from the master craftsmen of the trade.

Only if it IS all real. If he's just another text generating program not posting won't accomplish nuttin'.

Humans learn from each other. Please tell us about your culvert pipe? I have a big penis.

So, er, I guess you're trying to wangle an invitation to go see the place and, uh, well, good luck with that.

Got stopped by a cop. What was his purpose? He was a joy killer, that's what. He saw me doing "All great" (Guys resent it, girls seem to love it; that tells me a lot of what it is.), and he was feeling jelly, so he's like "let's get him". Anyway, they asked if "They could just take a quick look inside" my van, and, lol, I knew this was; consent to search. What didn't they have? Probable cause. My constitutional right? Deny consent to search which is what I did ("I'd prefer you not").

Why did I do this?

Dude, I frickin' learned in the navy. Anything they find can and will be used against you, especially if they're motivated. And this guy appeared motivated to steal my joy, lol, so nope, I maximized use of my constitutional rights.

Anyway, he then threatened "Ok, well in that case, in a few minutes, another cop car is going to be pulling up and there's going to be some drug-sniffing K9 all over your car. And depending on what they find, you could be without a car tonight.", and ooooo, I was sooooo scared, lol.

They let me go after they found I didn't steal this van I purchased.

It seems like everyone in this area is presumed to be a thief by the cops. Man, it must be destitute or something in this area. I /did/ see 20 cents a gallon of water at this one local store.

And, I totally figured out why 'baby' is used as a term of endearment. When some girls seem to "melt in your arms", they start talking like a baby, I guess it's adorable or something.

And these cops acted like open container laws were a Texas law, lol.

NEWSFLASH BUDDY, it's FEDERAL law, lol. So, even if I'm not officially a Texan... yeah anyway, I wasn't trying to enligthen them. The only reason why there's open containers in the van is because I use the van as my kitchen, because it seems impenetrable to ants, unlike my RV. If I put my bottle of wine inside the RV, oh, who knows what kind of ants I would attract after spilling some "grape juice" on the wooden floor.

EDIT: Well, it's "federal requirements", but it's a state law issue. Interesting.

And, I did notice in the past this particular area seemed to have a lot of police activity. I wondered if there were really that many speeders, or if the police here are really fishing in the stream of traffic all day long. My recent experience suggests that, yes.

They did suggest Lake Conroe made for some excellent fishing. Might have to pull my kayak out to the lake with my pug and go fishing, lol.

And, I think 8 ft. T-posts are suitable for human deterrance. That should rise about 6 feet out of the ground, which should meet slightly above eye level. I figure with some angled barbed wire I put on it (Would make a device that fits on the end of the of the T-stakes that makes the desired angle.), that should work well for both human and fox deterrence.

Now if only I could find used 8 ft. t-posts. Seems like they go upto 6.5' in the local area.

I see they have 10 ft. t-posts online, which is probably what my neighbor used to create his 7.5-8 foot high fence. He claims he used 12 feet, but I think 10 ft. is probably more likely.

So for physical activity, daily, I'm jogging(Usually 1/4 mile, think I'll up that to 2x a day), walking 3 miles, and practicing my javelin. (Javelin = sprints and upper body training)

And, I'm getting a call from the local materials place this morning. Hopefully I can get this driveway material within the next 2 days.

I applied some leftover sand that was hanging on the side of the road to the muddy hole in the road, tamped it down, and now riding over it is a smooth ride. I think I need to know what kind of sand they used to make these roads. It appears that

clay(base)->sand(top) works for road making. Whatever sand it was, it was fairly easy to 'compress it' with the tamper.

I don't really know why it seems like people get the impression I live here when I have Washington plates and Washington license. Well, I mean, I suppose my formative years being in Texas might have something to do with it... yes, maybe. [The culture+accent formation, anyways]

New fence cost estimates.

8' t post = $6 each.

450' / 12' = 37 posts - 4 corner posts = 33 posts

T post cost = 33*$6 = $198
Fencing costs = $50 x 5 (5 rolls of 100' each) + $50*2 (Barbed wire) = $350
4 Corner posts = $15 each including concrete = $60

Total = $608, maybe upto $670 with tax. (Seems like there's a lot of things here without tax, including non-grocery goods and services. Might just be services.)

Someone mentioned these would be 6.5' out of the ground, which seems good enough for casual human deterrence. Any person willing to get through this fence would also be equally capable of going through an 8' tall fence. (*snip* *snip* *snip*)

Ok, got a delivery of clay for the driveway scheduled for next monday. So, looks like next week is the week it's getting finished. Then I'm on my property, then once I'm on my property, I can fence myself in. Also, I will start doing the garden in the back. I have little motivation to work on the back of the property when I'm not physically on it, and I'm exceptionally busy with my business. So, the "little progress" is because I'm not actually on my property yet. Yeah, I know that's not really a "good excuse", but it's a good enough excuse for me, lol. (I'm not actually going to regularly tend to my garden when it's 300 feet away, you see.)

Anyway, saw what looked like an acre of property getting deforested. Maybe it's getting prepped for a house. But, yep, just sad to see the forest getting deforested. It's what nice about this area, with the zillions of individually owned parcels. It helps ensure that the forest will remain here for a long time, since no single interest can clearcut all of it. (Now, if people start living here in large numbers, that's a different story but with the thousands of open lots nearer to houston, that does seem a wee bit unlikely in the near future.)

Without the forest, we wouldn't have woodpeckers. And probably wouldn't have as many redjays, bluegays, warblers and all sorts of exotic birds. It seems that the more interesting they sound, the harder it is to spot them, lol.

Update: just saw a mosquito start sucking my right belly through my shirt, immediately tried to squash it, it flew away... I closed the door, started swinging clothes to create an air current (Forces the mosquito to dislodge), spotted it and killed it. with my hands (My hands are now pretty darn fast). Seems like there's still one more flying around.

This is definitely it. I'm going to start a flying insect poisoning campaign. I see my poisoned moat has claimed many a flying monster, moths, flys, gnat and mosquitos alike. They drink water just like all living organisms. This technique works and I might just deploy a poisoned trap in here.

Okay, just killed this long insect that looked like a small stick. What the hell is that thing? lol.

Man, so many species I've seen here that I've never seen up north. Birds and insects alike.

And not buying apples anymore. No more point to buying cheese, lol.

Okay, why was this guy angry last night?

This mexican illegal women was walking down the road with her 7 children in tow (Or 7 children who are all living at the meth-maker's place, I'm guessing) and I said hi in espanol (Around 6 p.m.). That night at around 10:30 p.m., I hear this guy shoot 10 rounds into the air. It wasn't his "1 shot" warning, or "3 shot" I'm kind of pissed, it was "Empty the clip! I'm fuming".

This is after 7 days of really no shooting since discovering I was a neighbor (I'd infer), and I actually thought this neighborhood was kind of nice with the no shooting.

Well about 30 minutes later, I hear this noise at my rear window. Out of all windows, /that/ window. That window was notable in that it was the only one that was left uncovered, and so it was the only window someone could look through. So, signs are pointing to "Maybe it's a person, Maybe an animal". But usually animals are rummaging through my trashbag, and making noise, they aren't just standing there in place and breathing. And usually animals are done with 5 minutes. Within 5 minutes of turning off all the internal lights so I couldn't be seen, all I could hear was the breathing.

It was a very distinctive breathing. 3 seconds exhale, 3 seconds inhale. Total breaths per minute = 10 breaths per minute. What's the average breaths a minute for the average adult human? 10 breaths per minute. (I was definitely not confusing it with my breath)

Signs were rather high there was someone out there.

The breathing noise went away for 30 minutes, and I fell asleep. I woke up at 4:20 a.m., initially didn't hear the breathing noise, but about 5 minutes after getting up and rummaging around, there it was again. Same characteristic 10 breaths per minute. So, I laid really still and it again died down after 40-60 minutes or so.

So, after it died down, I took a black trashbag and folded it over and stapled it to my rear window, preventing seeing inside.

Then I went to sleep sometime after 6:20

Then I woke up, felt like I was strangely enough underwater and couldn't breath as soon as I ended the dream, struggled to breath for like 3 breaths and regained my breath.

This was at 8:04 a.m.

It is now daylight and, of course, the breathing sound is gone and whomever was producing that breathing sound is likely back home at the corner of this little street. Or he could be hanging nearby in the brush. Who knows.

Speculation is that this household was dependent on the illegal meth narcotic drug money and they really needed this spot in the woods for making their drugs, and my being here near my property was scaring them, and drying up their funds. Within a week, they were feeling the affect of the drug money drying up.

Or maybe he was pissed because I said hi to his wife and she mentioned to him how sexy the neighbor was, lol

What was he hoping to accomplish? He just wanted to see my face late at night?

Well, checked the perimeter, saw what looked like a piece of shredded up coconut meat.

So, it's plausible there was an animal munching on the moldy half of my last coconut last night.

But, man, 10 breaths per minute. Do dogs have the same respiration rate as humans? I didn't think they did. Guess I'll look into it.

Dogs at rest have a normal respiration rate of 10 to 35 breaths per minute. The average dog at rest takes 24 breaths per minute.

This does seem doubtful.

And, how it was there at 11 a.m. and then shortly after awaking at 4:30 a.m., that's the kind of persistence and "kind of behavior" I think you'd see in a motivated person moreso than a coconut eating dog.

Anyway, I do know for a fact that some animal shredded up a coconut last night. I don't know if a person was there like I suspected, but some evidence suggests there was. Some evidence suggests an animal.
(Person hears some rustling in the RV, they go check it out, etc.)

Anyway, moved the trash down to my property so that it'll be easier to distinguish between humans/animals near my RV. And, I'm thinking more about where I'm going to work and sleep over the next week (Until I get the driveway done and the fence finished.).

Thinking more about that "solid wall" idea. Think maybe I could focus resources on the "solid wall" first and then focus resources as they come on fencing the property. That is, fencing the property would be a lower priority to creating a solid core. It seems evil wants to do its bidding at night in hopes of getting away with it.

And, while walking outside because it's unbearably hot in the RV, I just heard a shovel penetrate the ground in roughly the same location that they were mixing a beaker in the woods (And same location that guy was whistling).

With rumors of drug-trade fueled bodies being buried in these woods, my suspicion in conjunction with last night, are SUPER HIGH right now. Almost sounds like they're planning on burying a body.

Hope it's not mine.

The evidence is pointing strongly to someone being near my RV at the exposed window last night. At least strong enough in weight of the potential risk.

Okay, so I left at 3:30 and arrived at the nearby camp and fully set up by 6:14 p.m., Looks like one more cycle to do today, yeah!

After I got set up, OMG, /sooooo/ excited getting out of there.

See...

You people that are all like "Stop being a scaredy cat", holy crap, these people put on a "happy family front", but in the "back yard", they act like some warring drug cartel.

And you're sitting pretty much on the side of the road, so accessible to anyone who wishes you harm.

And then you hear the gunshots and soon after, the heavy breathing. This heavy breathing is notable because it's /NEVER/ been heard before, and it just happened to come on the tailend of a whole clip getting discharged.

And last night... even though the was strong evidence of an animal chewing on my coconut remains, the human like behavior (In terms of how long they stuck around, and how the heavy breathing picked up right after I got up and started rustling around) and human like breath rate was frocking creepy. And the timing was impeccable - meet my neighbor's wife; hear a full clip discharge at 10:30 (Not shot off once in the past week) then I start hearing this heavy breathing about 20 minutes later. Like, okay, that's just really good timing for "some dog".

Me, not risking it. Hell no. I'm out of there and I'm safe(r) now. Requirements for my return = fenced in 'courtyard' and driveway complete and a satisfying security system in place. Now, I'm more vulnerable to tornados out here, but... I'll take my chances, lol.

Anyway, I believe I saw one of the guys cross the road where the path was (I pulled up on the road to turn around) and it was like 400-500 feet up the road. Oh, so I can't see them through the woods, but we /can/ hear each other fairly well (Especially if they get closer, and I don't really know how far "The lab" is.), especially with the louder sounds (The clanging of mixing a beaker.). Anyway, yep, I suspected they didn't want me at that intersection because I could potentially observe them and that really creeped them out.

Anyway, thinking about how the fence will be set up. I would be nice to have an internal second fence solely for privacy, so like a black out material (Privacy fence). This way, the first fence should deter people from entering, the second internal privacy fence will prevent them from spying/aiming. There should be distance so that cutting/destroying the privacy fence should be hard to do in a way that would benefit them, and if they do, my security system should pick up on the activity (Internal space breeched; first fence breeched; etc.). The internal 'dead space' is important because hypothetically there should be no activity in this space, so no false alarms waking me up in the middle of the night, unlike observing the surrounding spaces.

Screw it, the entire front should be privacy fenced. The privacy fence on the front outside the secure center, however, does not need the dead space, as it getting cut to gain view of what's behind isn't as paramount as getting view of the secure center. The secure center should be used as a "sun down".

And, I'm debating whether I should get a driveway extension so I can fence in the van. As it's designed now, the van would sit near the end of the driveway near the road outside the fencing. This design wasn't based on someone wanting to kill me in the middle of the night. But, if someone was wanting to kill me, I don't think driving in the van would necessarily be the safest design with the single lane road and it's obvious where I would be leaving from after I turned on the engine (They'd undoubtedly hear the engine turn on to be alert).

Oh yeah, forgot to tell ya. Yeah, I got the "let me pat you down, stand right there in front of the cop car where I can see you." treatment while they investigated my supposed theft of my van. It definitely was not a routine, "Let me just write you a ticket from the comfort of your car seat" kind of stop, lol. Yeah, so those people kind of irritated me. Learned that one shouldn't go shopping in small towns, the kind where "Everyone knows everyone" and if they see you "Hot trotting" around, they're like "Who's this guy?" and they abuse their special police powers to find out. And if you see a cop anywhere in the vicinity when leaving the store, watch him carefully and lose him.

And I was wondering what this was... getting killed in the middle of the night.

"Kill you in your sleep"

https://www.google.com/search?q="ki...7N7SAhXH5yYKHcL5CIQQ_AUIBigB&biw=1440&bih=783

Oh, there it is. That's the phrase I was looking for to get relevant search results. Yep, so this is a definite thing. Can't find much statistics on it, but it seems to be "a thing" that happens.

Oh, the ideal would be a double fence, one for the secure center, another for a little area surrounding it, both privacy fenced. That is a lot of fencing however, but I should be able to do it (I think) for the same cost as the original fencing estimate, just that my entire property wouldn't be fenced. I guess maybe I could have a cheaper/less secure fence for the rest (The gardens).

And, by 10 p.m., I need to deploy the tent and get the aero bed setup. (Probably don't need to fill it until needed)

Ants are invading and I don't know where they are coming from. Moats look good, saw a few branches touching the RV, chopped them, no tall grass touching the RV, so little to no sign of any current routes onboard, other than the power wire, which has been vaselined (And if they were coming aboard the power wire, I'd expect them from the rear through the window.)

Ever read 'Beowulf?' If not, it's okay if you skip ahead to the John Gardner novel.

Maybe the guy is mad because you're not dead yet. I feel a horror movie coming on.

If you're out of 'There,' where ARE you?

Thinking a privacy fence and a concrete compound. Yes. Enough room for a bed and room to do jumping jacks, lol.

Basically, the concrete compound should be able to keep me safe long enough for authorities to arrive. And, alarms will go off when the fence is breeched. Security cameras will feed into the concrete compound, maintaining a visual on the fenced in area and surrounding areas. If I wanted to get more war-like, I could design this like something of a concrete WW2 bunker with ability to maintain a visual on the entire property and shoot anything that comes in sight. But, I guess I just want it to be impenetrable to both man and bullet.

Doing it this way, I don't strictly need a second fence, and a concrete compound feels like a more secure approach.

Well, time to do the design work. Guess I'll get a rough estimate going of what's involved.

Each side is 8 feet long, 7 feet high.

Total area = 8*7*4 = 32*7

This site is estimating 252 blocks.

$1.65 each.

$500 including cement.

Not entirely sure what to make the roof of, but shouldn't be too difficult/costly, I think?

Need some sand/clay for building on. $50

Need some mortar $50

$600 for the concrete structure (Sleep/night work).

$400 for privacy fencing of the front 50'.

About $1000-1100 for sufficient security structures for night use.

I wonder if I need to build a concrete slab for the blocks to rest on? Seems like I should...

Another site is suggesting "the footing" (For a perimeter wall) needs rebar reinforcement in the concrete. Yikes, sounds expensive.

At to where I am, I'm in the forest. A national one. In some ways, it's better. None of that "My neighbor wants to kill me" crap.

Grendel... oh... wow... that struck a chord. I guess. I think my neighbor wants to kill me because of where I'm at at the intersection, and the generator. I don't really know what they have against the generator, but maybe they don't like hearing it when they're making meth in the middle of the woods? Or maybe it masks the sounds of an approaching person/car, so they don't feel safe with it running.

They definitely don't hear the generator at their residence.

I don't really know if that's why (I highly suspect) he was standing outside my RV. For all I know, his wife told him how sexy I was (Or, she used very flattering language to describe her encounter that day), and he became infuriated. It's not like I was doting on his wife or anything, but gosh, I can't deny; girls seem to instantly start crushing. Like this white girl who lived at the ranch whom I was ordering clay from, she kind of ended the conversation in a way like she was crushing on me. And that other girl, she started talking like a baby, endearing like that, I guess. And this mexican girl, who knows what she told him. This guy is pretty volatile and trigger happy to begin with, so... it's very possible she set him off...

(The ranch girl, she just seemed to be intelligent and very good natured. She had that /sigh/ dynamic when speaking to me, which was oddly endearing.)

Me: "Hola mi vecino! Como estas?"

"Muy bien!"

"Muy bueno!"

That was the entire conversation, I swear. (Well, I mean, there was that vibrant intonation I had when saying it.)

Grendel hated music, so your monster hates the engine sound. Hmmmmm.

With you getting all this action from the women, you gots the need for a little shack of your own for some shacking up. Not to mention a place to put extra insulation to help stop bullets. Maybe you could sleep with kevlar bullets. I'm partial to the A Frame.

I'm willing to bet it was an animal, but it had very human like characteristics. human breath rate, how "it got closer" shortly after I woke up, etc., so yes, very creepy.

I'm just thinking if this was a person intent on killing me, they were kind of stupid. I wouldn't be heavily breathing if I were trying to conceal my presence, but then again, maybe this person assumed I couldn't hear noises outside. Or maybe they just didn't think of it. (I can hear noises fairly well because I have the top vent and front windows open. And, noises seem to travel especially easy through the thin aluminum and wooden.)

I don't think people normally breath that heavily to begin with. I definitely don't. It makes me wonder what it was. I'm not even sure a dog breaths that heavily. Maybe it was a bear. Looking online, looks they are at 6-10 breaths/minute, almost like a human's. And the heaviness of the breath would correspond to their large lungs.

Well, okay, maybe it was a bear. Didn't know these things were in these woods, but it doesn't seem impossible.

Okay, well, in that case... I still want a fence up before my return, lol. If I fence the first 50 feet or so, I can get a dog and chickens and all that going. Protecting the crops from animals or humans isn't a huge concern, so a cheaper, less secure fence can be deployed for that purpose, and some of the animals (Chickens) can roam in the gardens during the day. (I don't think I'd want the bunny hopping around my spinach, lol. But then again, I could probably plant enough for me and the bunny.)

It's just that the timing... it just fits a plausible story so well...

Seems that black bear populations have been rebounding in East Texas according to the news. It's a smaller bear, so it'd likely have a higher breath rate (10 breaths per minute).

Black bears may be active at any time of the day or night, although mainly forage by night. Bears living near human habitations tend to be more extensively nocturnal

And it does fit the timeline.

Well, I hope he enjoyed that coconut, lol.

Let's get one thing clear you chicken keyboard warriors. I have nothing against immigrants who delve into entrepreneuralism and increase the diversity and richness of services/goods in the economy. I'm one such person that does exactly that, so I think that's rather good of them (That's one of the weaknesses of classical communism; lack of economic diversity and the associated wealth and resilience therein.). If it's a grocery store, awesome (I frequent one such place). If it's a taco cart, cool beans. If it's meth manufacturing, then so be it. I have nothing against meth or illegal narcotics, but I do have something against the associated violence that permeates otherwise peaceful neighborhoods. Especially when it's RIGHT NEXT TO ME!!! Jeez, people love to complain from the comfort of their safe and white suburbs about issues that don't directly affect them and they have no experience in. And, if one cannot exist without the other, then both need to be dispelled and I have every freaking right to take up digital arms in this pursuit and post about it in a way I see fit, lol.

Anyway...

My immediate neighbor to the right is Hawaiian.
My immediate neighbor to the left is 4 trailers sitting on a lot with what seems to be 3 or 4 different illegal families. I don't know which families are involved in the meth, maybe it's only one family, who knows. It's obviously more than a single individual.
My other neighbor to the right right is an illegal mexican family, who seem to be honest and hardworking and nonthreatening. There seems to be one older caucasian lady living there.
There's plenty of caucasians living here, just not in the immediate vicinity of my location.

Okay, well, need to get the materials for the front.

That should be...

75 feet+75feet+50feet+50feet = 250 ft.

250/12 = 20; 20 - 4 corner posts = 16 posts

16*6 = $96
wire costs = $50*4 (welded wire) + $50 (Barbed) = $250
4 corner posts = $60
--------------
Total = $400

Not sure if I should get a privacy fence for the front/left/right. The benefit would be blocking view of the property, including the back, from the street which might help deter foxes from seeing the chickens and being motivated to get into the front. I'm not so sure it would deter thieves; it might enhance their curiousity to find out what's being hidden. Anyone particularly interested could relatively easily look over (Stand up in the back of a pickup truck). But, it would deter ordinary driveby onlookers.

I think I like that two separate fenced in areas idea. The cost reflects the level of desired security, allowing overall reduction in cost. And, the most important part can be implemented immediately and the less secure part can be implemented in the future. (The purchase can be delayed)

And, this starfist salmon can tricked me. The 5 oz cans are "skinless" while the 14.75 ounce cans aren't. So, that means, the cans with skin have appreciable amounts of vitamin D while the skinless ones don't. That's one reason why I buy these things, is for the vitamin D. So, yeah, they tricked me. Oh well, I guess I'll just use these to supplement and I need to find another vitamin D fish source on the next grocery visit. I guess I could always pop my cod liver oil pills when eating the skinless variety.

(The reason why is because significantly more vitamins/minerals are stored in the fat. I'm guessing this is one major reason why nuts and other fatty beans, like cocoa, are so rich in minerals. And that might be why fat is good for you and tastes delicious; because of the rich mineral/vitamin content. Maybe the calorie content has some benefit, doesn't seem to effectively replace carbs, in my personal experience. At least not nut fat; animal fat might be different, it might absorb and process better.)

Anyway, yeah, the diversity of the butterflies here are amazing. Just saw one with a velvet black wing with metallic pastel green and blue spots on the back. Wow, that looked like real art.

You certainly do jump to conclusions. If you had gotten a game cam, like I mentioned a while back, you would know what your circumstances are. Once you build this "security" fence, you are sending out a clear message that you HAVE stuff worth stealing.

The Spanish culture is " If you have a lot of stuff, they are entitled" to take what they want. I live in Costa Rica, Paradise, and would have this problem also. I did have stealing right after I moved here, but, I found the local gossiper and after a conversion with her, I laid out the results of dealing with any more thieves. She about shit a brick when I told here what would happen, but, after 13 years here, we still do not have barred windows unlike everyone else in this country.

I have a decent workshop and machinery and such, but, no one dares to come on our place. I live in a typical country house and only do enough repairs to look like I'm barely getting by, same as everyone else. My wife was terrified of guns, but, I have taught her how to use a small pistol, and, the word is out about that also. I leave for the states a couple times a year and she is here alone, except for our dog that will fight to the death to protect here.

You might want to rethink your plans and chill just a bit. I think you are WAYYY overthinking things. This IS however, quite an entertaining thread.

Well, I really need a fence for the chickens/bunnies anyway, and partitioning it is more cost effective and quicker to implement. Plus, I can get a dog like right now if I do that (I mean I could just put a dog on a rope, but...yeah... I want to keep my poopsie unstolen you see. And, they really need physical separation from the larger dogs that freely roam.). The rest of the fence for the crops can be implemented later (I could just use simple and cheap barbed wire to deter deer, rabbits and other fruit/vegetable munchers. And, the fence doesn't even have to be that high. I don't think deer are even a problem here, I've never seen them. I think the woods are too thick. I'm not even sure where that black bear was hiding.).

You know... I'm allowed to shoot any animal that trespasses in my yard... so if I use my small dog as bait... yeah... I see potential for "street dog" control, lol. But I have a feeling the owners would quickly find out whodunnit since there's like only 5 or 6 neighbors they have to think through, lol. And, I'm not so sure if I want to /really/ tick off some of the people here.

Just walking by a pond and saw a frog hanging out on the surface, with his bulgy eyeballs just ontop of the water. I got a little closer and *fwoop*, he slipped underwater out of view. I've just never seen that before. So many different animals and insects I've never seen before, some of them pretty intimidating, especially the huge flying insects, some of them whom seem to follow you.

Barbed wire won't affect deer at all. They can, flatfooted, clear an 8' chain link fence with 3 runs of barbed wire on top. I have seen it done several times.

Build raised cage/run with mesh wire floor for rabbits off the ground. Takes care of most animal problems and no clean up. Just shovel the "pellets" directly into the garden.

My Ma raises deer, such a battle to keep her deer in and the whitetail she doesn't own OUT. Deer can damage your fence, then it becomes a superhighway. It's like the way that whatever side of the road they're on as you drive up, they just HAVE to be on the other side. And they just HAVE to be on the other side of the fence, too.

Ok, kicked again out my RV last night by the fireants, I think I finally figured out where they are coming from. They're swimming across my moats! So, I tried finding my orange soap, couldn't find it here, so I dumped what little of my dishwasher detergent I had left in the moats and I hope that deters any more invaders.

These ants are way more aggressive than the ants near my property. I've never seen those ants trying to cross my moats.

Anyway, as to deer, doesn't really matter. Any deer in my backyard will make for some good hunting.

And, boy, it is starting to get unbearably warm/hot inside any structure/vehicle during the middle of the day (At this moment, from 1-5 p.m.). When I get my RV installed on the property, I'll definitely have to invest in some kind of shade. [Right now, a fan pulling in air from the outside helps a bit. But, it's also 81. It might be a bit different when it starts reaching the 93 highs during the summer. The property actually has a bit more shade from the trees because the national forest has had a lot of its trees removed, so I think it's actually a bit cooler on my property in the heat. In the national forest, I'm getting nearly 100% exposure to the sun.

This was like never a problem back in Spokane, lol. Instead, you just had the threat of freezing to death 4 months out of the year, lol.

Anyway, I've recently learned that bunnies like to burrow underground. Which does make good sense, considering how vulnerable they are to predators. Yeah, so I'm rethinking the "Having bunnies" idea. I thought they would just hop around the yard, lol.

Angle of the sun is currently around 30 degrees here (Same at the longitude of Houston). It's at this angle in Spokane for like a 3-7week span from july-august, and humidity isn't a thing there (High desert).

Okay, so point of the initial security fence. Keep the dog and chickens in the area. Keep the less motivated people out (Like my neighbor who just walked across my property getting to his). Keep the bears and foxes out. Keep the roaming dogs from terrorizing my chickens and small dog. Yep, just so many reasons to have one.

Apparently the area's hawks like to go after them chickens. I might need a separate solution for them.

Anyway, haven't seen any ants for the last hour since putting the soap in the moat. Too early to call success (Seems you need a whole day without seeing ants before calling victory, lol.), but I'm /really/ hoping it's doing the trick.

Oh yeah, found the orange soap, the moats are now poisoned.

Middle school teacher arrested in $6 million drug bust

Boy, [disproportionate number of] mexicans and their drugs.

I added the bracketed part there for you nitwits who take things at face value and assume statements like that are referring to ALL mexicans. Jeez.

[adpno] = a disproportionate number of

So, [adpno] Africans like to kill and harm while [adpno] Mexicans like to make and distribute dope. [adpno] Both like to steal. And what do [adpno] white people do? Be pathetic little wimps who self-flaggelate them and their race like some kind of lowly pussy. Jeez, it's not that [adpno] black guys are doting on the white women; [adpno] white men are emasculated wimps. [adpno] black people respect their own race unlike [adpno] white people.

Just take the ant crystals and ring your RV, they won't make it inside. On your land you find the anthill and pile some crystals on top then pour water. The colony ends.

Yep, time to find a better (ant-free) location to sleep. I was thinking my van. I haven't really seen any ants in there, I saw one once, but only that once. But, the way the driveway is currently designed, the van is outside the gates. Yeah... why do these ants have to be so problematic?

It seems like there's a perpetual colony in my RV or something that becomes active at night. Unless these guys are just swimming through my poisoned moats.

Anyway, I wouldn't mind turning my RV into a work RV. I just would like to sleep inside the gates, lol.

Okay, so shed design.

Use eight 2x4s to create the 8x8 pallet. (4 for the square shape, 4 for the cross members)

Use four 4x4s to create the vertical beams in the corners.

Use four 2x4s to connect the vertical beams at the corners.

Attach two 4x8s to each of the four sides. (so eight total 4x8s.)

Figure out the roof. Two 4x8s sounds good to me.

Figure out the floor. Two 4x8s sounds good to me.

Total wood...

Twelve 4x8s
four 4x4
Twelve 2x4s

Cost estimate, not including door (Cut it out, figure something out).

12x$24 = $288 for the 4x8s
4*$10 = $40 for the 4x4s
12*$7 = $84 for the 2x4s
------------------------------
$412 for all wood involved in creating the frame, floor, sides and basic roof.

What did lowes have available for $599?

https://www.lowes.com/pd/Heartland-Belmont-Gable-Engineered-Wood-Storage-Shed-Common-8-ft-x-8-ft-Interior-Dimensions-7-58-ft-x-7-36-ft/50115703

Does not include the floor decking (The floor), but does include the floor frame (I'm assuming the 2x4s the floor rests on?).

Doesn't sound like a bad deal. Something like that looks a bit easier to ant-proof given its simplicity. Ant proofing this RV is darn near f'in impossible, as it appears colonies can set themselves up under the floor and the walls and whatever and it seems they've been doing just that.

It's nice, too, that the night time weather is nice enough to sleep outside 9 months of the year. The other 3 months, I have a feeling ants aren't much of an issue. They didn't seem to be much of an issue in December/January. [That's the nice thing about the tropics; every night of the year is good sleeping weather.]

And, no, I would not consider the shed "my house". It would just be a place to sleep without the ants. Hell, could probably just set up a large tent inside the shed and stick my big bed in it. However, I could possibly put a bathing vicinity of somesort somewhere near by, like a portable shower (Such a shower would definitely need netting to keep the bugs out). I definitely wouldn't eat inside it, that's for darn sure.

Anyway, this evening, I was eating a banana and my body was just like "Eat one more, NOW!", lol, and so I did. Then it was like "That's enough, no more.", lol.

Seems like this RV has more problems than ants. Seems like there's one big freaking (cockroach?) just climbing up my wall.

Yeah, I definitely need some solid sealable structure (The simpler the structure, the simpler to seal) to sleep in this bug-filled environment and this RV is quickly proving its uselessness in that regard, lol.

I got it. A shipping container home. Bullet proof, cheap. . . .

Build one off the ground and you can work underneath it in the shade.
