Hello everyone im intrested in buying my first kit. How hard will this be for me to set up? I plan on buying a bike from walmart and using that as my base. And what kind of tools do i need to build this? And will any lithium ion battery should i buy? Im totally new to this. Ive owned a bike a few years back but i sold it after the batteries were diying on it. Any help will be apreciated. I plan on using an ebay kit if that matters. Thanks again

This guy has bought a lot of gear from everywhere, He has spent a lot of money on ebikes. Read his blog. He rides his bikes hard and probably burned up most of his old ones.

There's been a flurry of builds done on bikes from bikesdirect. Check them out. Just a few more dollars and you'll get better equipped bikes.
Many of Karl's builds are on BD bikes. I did one too. Better brakes and gear than Walmart by a long shot. Google the bike frame names for build examples and guidance.

There are a number of great USA as well as China resellers to choose from. Spend a bit more time reading and you'll find them. There's a few overpriced resellers, but lately there's been some great deals.

Empowered, EM3ev, California Ebikes, and of course the beginners cheap seats that Wesnewel supports. I mean supports from the standpoint of helping sort through the builds. Above all take your time. Do your research. Sometimes a couple of hundred more in better parts CAN make for a better and more reliable ride.
