I read the manual a few times. It is not easy if you do not speak the language. I finally change it from kph to mph. It still required circumference of rear tire in mm. Got that too. But it was not easy. It seem to be written for multiple models. Not a good idea. Each model should have its own manual. Maybe in my old age I've gotten stupid. I need very specific commands. I'm confident electrical engineers would have no problems.

My model is the newest version. I hope that defines it. The cruise control idea sounds good. I have the ability to monitor temps of motor and shut it down for overheat. Good stuff. Don't know how. Please indicate what you use and like. And how to navigate to make it happen. I have all grin stuff. Motor is managed through controller. Throttle too.

Yes I did Amberwolf. That is the one I'm talking about. I know you are fluent in the language of electronics. I respect that. I have other fluencies. Out of my element, but my eye on the prize. Like to ride! And progress is being made. That guide is well written I believe for those that do not require a glossary. My guess is I am not the only one that would benefit on a more elemental navigation and a guide for each model rather than various models on the same chapter. But then again it might be just me...

If I were to participate in an anonomous poll about the ca, I'd say the exact same thing ebent.

I expected something more sleek and easy to learn, and it's not that the ca isn't the best in it's class, it's just that buyers should understand they're buying something geared for a hobbyist. Userfriendliness is not its best virtue. (hey 'that's what she said' to me last night lol)

Anyway, all the data is in the unofficial writeup by teklectic- And he and we are here to help too. I'm sure you'll get to the bottom of it. Edit, or at least I hope so lol.

Thanks for your thoughts. the link from r3volved I think will be helpful. Thanks. Amberwolf, to write a protocol might absorb more time than you might have. Not an easy task. But you would make it better. I'll plod through. I sent an email to grin to find out the number of poles I have. Hit 29 mph last night and I had throttle left!

You aren't alone. It's just that it's a completely new thing to you. The kits I help to sell on line have a very simple display, but it does require some setup to work right.

It's like a watch on that display, you know, hold these two buttons for 3 seconds, then use the up down buttons to select wheel size, motor type, miles or km, etc. Yet every day, I have to help somebody with a bachelors degree figure it out. The CA setup is definitely harder. Especially if you need to find a shunt value to calibrate it.

So don't feel bad if you find it hard. It is!

But most of the stuff you can just ignore. Set your wheel size, miles or km, and shunt value if it's a DP. If you have to run it with the shunt out of calibration for a while, you still get numbers you can use more or less. They will still tell you when you are halfway.
