I currently trying to use my CA V3 to control my throttle to see how it performs, I'm use to using my throttle tamer so I know I need to give myself some time to adjust. So far in pass through mode it works good, but there is the typical twitchieness to the throttle due to the lack of a buffer. Other than that pass through mode works good and provides snappy throttle response. I then tried power mode and amp mode. I did not do any real tweaking to the parameters. I left the throttle up and up fast at their normal settings of 2.0v/s and 1.0v/s and the down rate at 4.0v/s. I noticed that in power limit and current limit modes there is a lag to the throttle response which makes control a bit difficult. For both setups I input limits that were just above with my controller currently runs at. In both modes it was tricky to get back up to speed without a surge if I let off the throttle all the way and then got back onto it.

I'd like to know who else is using these modes and what kind of settings / tuning procedures you used and how you like the overall feel of it.

I have noticed a bit of a lag when I snap the throttle off, nothing major, just notice it's there since I look for that after my own design experience. My throttle tamer has the same slight lag (a little less), but I've only noticed it when at WOT, the CA V3 seems to do it at any throttle position.

Anyone have current/power limiting working with snappy throttle response? I need snappy throttle response because I like to make the front end light when I'm hopping curbs, etc. What is your setup, settings, etc.

My setup is on of my 24 FET IRFB4115 EB324 controllers running 75V into a 25.2" tire with a V2 Cromotor. 115A battery, 185A phase.

Anyone else is experiment with the current / power throttle on the CA V3?
I figured I'd give it a shot to see how it compares to my throttle tamer (sold out and not sure if I'll build more or not until I do this testing), but I'd like to make sure I give it a fair chance.

I would also be very interested in others experience here. I will be running a similar set-up as zombiess as far as the power parameters on my new build (getting well into the project now). I just converted my CA DPS into a DP yesterday and did the resistor upgrade for the magura throttle. When I get the final assembly finished, I will want to get these parameters set up. So, icecube, if you are the boss of this lets hear what you've got :p . Obiwan

zombiess: how is your experience after some month now? i have a quite powerfull mid drive which is very twitchy. i borrowed one of your throttle tamers to see if it will help. i use a ca-v3 as well, but am not sure if those two go together well or which settings may not work with each other.
there are so many things to set on the v3. throttle mode, power and current gain, throttle ramping and all that stuff. so if i start feeding the v3 a "faked" power signal coming from your tamer how does this go together?
i guess if you want to use the two together you must set all v3 settings to "unlimited" - so very fast throttle response and little power damping.
what are your thoughts?

I would venture to say that most CA V3 users will have current/power throttle hooked up (as opposed to speed throttle or pass-through). Mine works very well once the parameters were properly tweaked.

They should be able to be used together, but I don't see why one would do that.

I never got good throttle response in current mode with my V3, but I did not spend a lot of time tuning it. I've since switched to controllers with phase current control.

sorry but i still not sure that i totally understand that. afaik your tamer adds some buffering, signal damping and i can't see that the V3 does that.
i can setup some throttle ramping but that's it. there is no way to make it some kind of exponential signal curve.

did i miss something? what are the CA-V3's appropriate settings to ACCEL and BUFFER?
