I'm building my first e-bike. A mid drive hard tail MTB utilising various components from GNG, LighntingRod, Ping, and Grin Technologies.
It quickly became apparent that despite my best efforts to keep it simple, there are an awful lot of cables that needed for the various devices on the handlebars...
Routing these cables neatly then, is a bit of a pain. Especially when you add in the complexity of fitting a Cycle Analyst. Happily, I've discovered quite by accident that there is a way to neaten things up... Well, a little bit anyway...
My build is pretty much from scratch, I wasn't converting an existing bike, since my Whyte PRST-4 felt a bit to special to go bolting big lumps of iron to, so I bought a used frame, and have had to buy every single bicycle component for it. To keep costs down, all the parts are used, bought from eBay and various bike forums. One of those parts is a Cobalt 3 stem from Crank Brothers;

The coloured highlights on this stem are in fact plastic inserts. They serve no structural purpose whatsoever, you can simply shake the bare stem and they drop out. Once out though, I discovered they permit the passage of several cables through the stem! without any drilling, filing, or machining whatsoever;
