I'd like to add a Watts Up watt meter and power analyzer http://www.amazon.com/Watts-Meter-Analyzer-WU100-Version/dp/B001B6N2WK

to my Dillenger street legal bike kit.

Does anyone know if this is possible?

Possible, but you need some wiring/soldering skills to splice it into your battery wire, and if you want it on your handlebars, run some extension wires up there. You might want to take a look at the $80 luna "cycle analyst" type meter as an alternative, although also requires wiring: http://lunacycle.com/gauges/batt-man-ebike-amp-hour-fuel-guage/

Sure, but why? This is all you need to monitor the battery voltage.

Maybe because he wants to be able to calculate the watt hours per mile.

Maybe because he wants to know when his battery nearly full, and not wait for it to run another half hour at 25 watts flowing. The watt meter can be put on the charger too. Yes, you can pretty much tell this by voltage, but you can really tell with a watt meter.

I could go on and on. No, you don't need much more than your voltage, but at under 20 bucks, a cheap watt meter does give you more.

Wire it in line, between the battery and the controller. I never saw much need to use enough wire to put it on the handlebars with this type meter. Sure, it's nice to have it there, but much easier to just Velcro it to the top of the battery box for me.

Whats your expirience with them like?

How far off is the accuracy?

GT power watt meter.Cheap and gets good reviews on you tube and here.

Assuming it can do math. Mine couldn't figure out watt-hours to save it's life.

Accuracy is OK and apparently some even have a POT that can be used to adjust/fine-tune.
However, my experience has been that 1 out of 2 of these are DOA..so you may want to order 2

This is not a wattmeter - only a voltmeter.

Note that Grin Technologies are selling the CA V2.4 at $127Cdn.

Caution when buying those cheap watt meters. The ones without the 3 buttons are just watt meters and don't have the 6s port on the side to test/balance your battery packs. You can see the difference here.

The ones that balance are a new one for me. I had not seen them before. I have preferred the CA myself, and don't regret one penny I spent to have 4 of them now.

I did use the cheap generic blue watt meter for a time, but I'd mistakenly hooked it up to 72v once. So no surprise to me that mine blew after about a year. Mostly, I used the cheap one to watch charging. Helpful to know which of my chargers was really putting out 250w, and which was not. Well worth a few bucks to buy one or two of the cheapest watt meters. Then if you really want to geek out while riding, get a CA later.

I really like the CA for it's ability to show you watthours per mile average as you ride. This feature has made the difference to me big time when I go on the longer rides. With a death zone desert to cross, you need to know you will make it. But if you are crawling along to make it, very nice to know when you can go ahead and speed up and still make it.
