There was a thread on this idea not too long ago.

Some debate about the engineering of "push" trailers.

The big advantage is the trailer can carry a much bigger battery pack, without messing with the geometry / weight / handling of the ebike itself.

Well here's a new (to me) idea I really love as a concept. Could also work behind a car!

https://www.autoevolution.com/news/trailerduck-is-a-smart-e-bike-trailer-thats-bound-to-make-city-life-easier-168072.html

Rather than only discussing the specific revolutionary concept of this article, please help me make this a "hub thread" by linking to other articles and discussions on the concept of self-powered ebike trailers in general.

TIA

great concept, not sure whether we will see it in the future though :bolt: ,
as i don't think car drivers be happy with having to overtake them but who cares about them anyway 8)
although would be great for roads in the inner city if cars were banned, could also be done with a drone, tec exist to have your drone follow you now,
can imagine an automated trailer like that as bike caravan be fun , bike trailer caravans another thing that's good in theory , and fun to design but not so great out on the road , by the way my caravan trailer design has water storage, spare battery and solar charger, lighting ,fan also Tv but not really suitable for UK roads unfortunately

Weight carry capacity means not really in the same topic as drones. I assume you mean flying ones.

As an intermediary solution before pure unmanned is working and accepted

I don't see the tech being that advanced.

And yes private vehicles will I think be increasingly phased out from densely populated areas.

Yes, nice.

I definitely was not suggesting that a trailer should be pushing.

But I really like the idea of the following unit not being towed, not attached at all

if it's proven safe of course.

Following any bike or tadpole golf cart whatever, even a jogger.

H'mmmm .... being as it has four wheels and self powered, it might have to be tagged, taxed, licensed and insured as an "automobile" in some states

Maybe still a trailer if you hang a retractable dog leash between it and the "TV"

In order to "leach" power from the trailer for the dog's TV?

Corrected, thanks I bet some would not have been able to deduce the meaning.

TV = tow vehicle, in this case not actually.

maybe call it the guide dog?
