hello everybody i was wondering could i use this esc over the xl2 mamba. im trying to run 10s to 12s. i know people say to stick to the car esc or boat esc but I like the power to run something over 8s would it hurt to run this ICE 2 with a 192kv sk3 with a 10s battery?

Why 12S? Do you know how fast 12s is? Your feet will have issues staying on the board. The reason we say car ESC is for electrical brakes. If you don't want brakes then sure it might be fine but also the brakes are different because some ESCs are designed for propellers. You let off the acceleration it will immediately brake.

I dont get it either..12s is going to be unusable in almost any situation. You will never be able to feel the true acceleration of your board unless you're strapped to it. You'll always have to baby the throttle. And then, if you manage to hang on, because it's going to be a hell of alot faster than 20mph, when you let off the throttle the prop brake is gonna be a big surprise. If you can eliminate braking altogether I also hope you master those slides because you're going to need them.

My XL2 and G160 (8s) tops 46mph.
If I ran 12s the speed calc says 72mph. Nobody should be going near that fast without serious brakes and or serious skills.

haha so your saying it will work! well i dont mind not having breaks.I actually Longboard down monster hills and i know how to footbreak and . i have a Governor mode which when you let off the throttle it gets me to where my coast is which is 6mph which it it has a drags me down to a safespeed. and its not about how fast your going its about how fast you can go not want to go. its like a sports car you dont want one that only goes 120mph you want one thats say you can go 200mph if you Dare! and im sunk on my batteries 5s is not fast enough for me. which is only 15mph. on my set up.so i need 10s. so checking.but a 15/32 with a 192kv motor and a 76mm wheel with 10s is 29mph on my watch i might be wrong

Not sure if this is relevant but i got the Ice 2 160 amp for 115 after shipping unused

those band breaks you had to weld on? and you think i could use them with speed vents 85mm that sounds amazing. but I am also building this board so i can learn how to power slide and do downhill cruising without the downhill part so my goal is to go 20 to 25 and learning how to do power-slides to slow down. but i do want to have a back up break so i dont slam into traffic. But I'm an old school boarder that just wants that pure Ump. i honestly plan on going with it on 5s and going parallel 2 5dand Bombing our 22 mile long park river park trail. I'm Building this board to train for downhill long boarding races at high speeds. you cant get better at bombing hills if there is no hills so im doing the next best thing and thats going fast on flatland

You wrote this ^ which is why I chimed in.
Sounds like you've got a plan though. 29mph is a correct figure.

:p Super Now i play the waiting game. I bough the IceHV 1 for 100 dollars and since its been recalled You send it back to castle creations and you get the ice 2 for free. which is a $269.95 for the cost bough from Castle creations them selves. i have 2 options for it and i do appreciate the nit picking it allows me to think about what i can do and should do. but i have the air plane mode which allows me to have a drag break or soft breaks. or i can do the helicopter mode which has control line that allows you to have some form of soft breaks from 10% to 100%.at a base coast of 6mph and a low acceleration setting so you dont have to baby the throttle. when you let it coast on neutral it drags slowly without throwing you off and when you punch the breaks it gives you a drag what what ever you like i like 30% for super soft breaking. i know its ment for airplanes or helicopters but its about what you get to work with. and i have 2 5s 5000mah and i have 4 4s 5000 mah. with my set up i need to be able to hit 25mph constantly. but not have a big punch on it. But thanks alot for you time and knowledge. i look forward to more of your scrutiny and i should post my board tonight but since i had so many fails so far it might not look so hot lol.

My buddy "Rdog" used a helicopter esc with soft braking and incremental adjustments. Be Careful. Do you know what 30% soft brake feels like at 25mph when you're expecting to coast? He fell pretty hard.

haha i do understand this. and thx for the reply on my first one the turnigy sentillion died cause volts spikes. i push to start the Governor mode then i get up to speed. neutral it gives me about 10 percent drag at 20mph i only have the breaks as means of stopping the board if i fall off i have no intention of using it to slow me down. my way to control speed the wheel size since i picked 76mm they accelerate fast and the lose speed very fast very bumpy unless on smooth roads. if i was going 25mph i would drop to 10mph in under 20 meters on neutral faster if you do the lazy S pattern to control my speed. but as all Experienced skateboarder know you dont do unknown runs you stay with in your limits and slowly progress on your own stomping ground. hence im not going to punch it at 30 mph on a busy street. and yes i know what kind of break that is. im more used to to bailing at 15mph into a run or foot breaking to a safe speed. Thanks again for your input. i assume if i add these capacitors to stop the ripple. which kills esc.

hey saming,
Those CC capacitors are a fantastic idea, I run them on 2 of my boards & never had a problem.

my 10s 63 setup running 90s is in the 30mph game, I have an alien controller with uprated firmware & i'm still not happy with the brakes.. it's just not progressive enough.. I really wish the mamba xls had a higher cell count, i'd have one straight off! I've used lots of CC esc / castle link before it's class.. Good luck with the ICE 2.. Keep us posted

Just a thought .. be great if it could be flashed with the mamba brake firmware......
