Change Infineon XC846 controller from sensorless to sensored

I have one 6 FET Infineon based controller that is sensorless. It keeps blowing up. I have a dead sensored version of this controller and the board is very similar. Wondering if I just hook up hall wires to the hall pads, will it just use those? I assume no and either the software on the chip is different or it has some "switch" somewhere.

Is it possible to flash the XC846? I cant find much info on this thing that isn't in Chinese.
