Charge / discharge lead

Is there a downside to having just one lead coming off my battery for both charging and discharging ? Thanks

What are mating cycles ?

Can you give me an example of a precharge resistor ? Would that be an inline fuse between the charger and the battery pack ?

Just upgrading now from Andersons to XT60's.
