Please be aware of the risks and care needed with lipo batteries before you start using them.
you will need a correct Lipo charger (8s capable most likely ?) and cell monitoring devices.
A BMS is also adviseable if you are not 100% clear on battery checking.
You will not find a cable to suit your old connectors and the new packs, and you will need connector a harness to assemble the individual packs together. ..You may have to either make those yourself or find someone who can make them for you.
Likewise, a waterproof case specific to your requirements is going to be a case of searching around to find the best compromise to suit your particular pack size and location on the bike.

PS: you do not need to post the same questions in multiple threads.

Ok what about two of these in my back basket.

Obviously I am not ready for lipo batteries. Can these be wired into the original currie leadass battery pack wiring after I remove the old battery. They will be heavy and have to mount them into the basket. And wire them into the case

Can I do without the BMS and cell monitoring devices if I get 2 of these.

Turnigy nano-tech 8000mAh 6S 25~50C

and this.
Lipo PackTurnigy Accucel-6 50W 6A Balancer/Charger w/ accessories.

These should be small enough to wire into the leadass batt. pack the bike came with. The only thing is I only have 1 pack. I will need another one for the other side for the xtra range. 1 batt per case. Can I get a beat batt. pack cheap somewhere? I am also thinking about getting a different frame. aluminum 10 to 15 pounds and putting my controller and motor on the lighter frame. The izip frame has to be about 50 pounds without the battery because its almost 80 pounds with the battery.
With a 15 pound frame and the motor and controller and light lipos my total weight for the bike should be around 40 pounds. That should increase speed and range.
lead acid batteries are going to be my last resort. ping are out of the question with my budget. Please help me out here. I need to do something soon.

Is it a hub motor or a side mount brush motor? Can you post a picture of the bike you bought so that everyone can see what you're working with?

I've been running rc lipo for 3 years with just a voltmeter to monitor the pack while riding and never had a problem.

To charge a 12s pack, I'd recommend this charger to make things simple and a lot faster than that little 50W charger, which will take many hours to charge your pack.

As for wiring lipo into the currie sla battery cases, you should be able to get enough into one for 4 times the range you get with the sla and have room left over. And there's no need to get expensive nano tech lipo when cheap 20C will work fine.

Thank you again Wesnewell.

unfortunately for myself and millions of fellow Americans the extended unemployment benefits were not extended. I would be receiving $900+
next week if it went thru. I have osteoarthritis in my right leg and had to ride almost two miles from the hospital on a beat battery. I had x rays taken and they show clear evidence of osteoarthritis and degenerative disk disease in my lower spine. I have more doctors appointments attorneys and welfare appointments. I don't care about speed, performance or anything but getting from point a to point b anymore. My last resort is just one of these batteries.
It is all that I cant afford right now but am trying to scrape up the money for it somehow. Will it work. 12 volts in a 24 volt controller and motor. I don't care if it goes 4 or 5 mph. I just need to get around. I'm in pain all the time and can only walk a few blocks without intense pain.

12v 22ah TD22-12 Tempest Deep Cycle AGM, Valve Regulated, Maintenance Free, Sealed Lead Acid Rechargeable Battery $54.60

I can put it in my basket. Can It hook into the lead ass case I have when I remove
the old batt. from the case. What wiring harness will work. I can silicone any exposed connectors and put plastic over the battery in the basket.

If I cant get this will any 12 volt battery work. even a car battery. I don't care about the battery life as it will be an old junk battery for no money.
I just don't want to damage the motor or controller.
Please let me know if this is possible. Desperate in Schenectady NY. latecurtis.

It's not going to run on 12V. The controller is 24V and will have an LVC of 21V. It will run on a single 5ah 6s rc lipo pack though. But you'll need 2 12v batteries for it to work. if you can scrounge 2 car batteries or UPS batteries, they'd work.

To charge lipo you need RC balance charger and a power supply. Just to charge and low voltage alarms so you don't caught fire as lipo make the biggest fire. I would just keep to 24v. Or 28v charged. Cheap. Just utube lipo fires.
