Here we call it Paint Thinner. Not sure what it would be called in the UK. White Sprite?

Anyway a rag and some "paint thinner" should work fine.

thanks m8 , i just ordered some paint thinners ,, white spirit leaves a very thin oil residue so its not really that good for oil/grease removal , its fine for getting the worst off though .

PS, don't forget the rubber gloves.

:D

Easy off oven cleaner works on really tough stuff. But I'd just spray it with a strong stream from a hose and nozzle, after using whatever was handy. Glass cleaner, or whatever is laying around.

........It also won't melt the paint or varnish off the windings in the motor the way paint thinner will.

Your guys must have some really good paint thinner out there in Dallas!

:D

Acetone. It's what is generally preferred for welding as it's extremely good for cleaning surfaces, leaves no residue, and evaporates very quickly. You could say paint thinner is acetone, but it's always like that, in fact. You can probably find acetone at any hardware store.
