CNC machined lipo boxes...............

How much cost would be saved having some rough's welded up and shipped to you to run your existing program on? Probly only like $20 each eh..

Welding boxes then machining them would probably work,

But, if you want to anodize them, the weld area will anodize differently than the rest of the box (i.e. looks bad)

Powder coating would look good...

Design away,
They can be cast afordably & add the mounting points any where they need be. (only bling option would be powder coat or polish)
Some one else can do the art work....I have too mutch going on ATM.
(but i do love the tool marks left on them billet boxes...need to polish the covers to match)

While looking for lipo enclosure solutions I came across these at http://www.budind.com/view.php?part=ec-box.ec-box.jpg

I am looking at the plastic versions. I have been worried about the pressure buildup and resulting explosion if these went off. I thought about drilling the bolts through all the way and using longer bolts that would allow an extra washer and spring combo that would hold the lid down securely, but let the lid push out releasing the pressure in case of a flame out. It would be hard do direct it away from my nads, but I am really just thinking out loud here. Also, wrapping the batteries with a fire retardant material that would prevent molten debris from flying out too. Any thoughts. Seems like it would work with your boxes. -damcard
