I have just got a new 48/60/64/72v brushless controller made by Shenzhen HZ. For my Kugoo V1 that I have turned into a mobility scooter, because I can’t pedal I have replaced the crankset with pegs so I intend to get a bigger battery soon but for now I will make do with 48v. I have fitted the controller but it doesn’t have the two EBS wires that link together for the braking. I have taken the cover off and the connections DS and X are there but no wires are fitted. Can I connect to these places on the circuit board with new wires and link them up? I haven’t got the facilities to test it out on a bench, that’s why I thought that I should ask first.

It's very likely that they will. Try it, add the wires for ground, and for any of the pads you want to test out for braking, and run them out of the controller and label them.

Then set it up on the scooter and connect your brake lever(s) with one wire to ground, and the other wire to the one you wish to test for brake function. Then start the motor and then try the brake lever.

If the motor doesn't stop, turn it off and disconnect that wire, and try the next one.
