I have given up on finding a smaller 2hp brushed motor for my summer build. Before i buy a heavy motenergy motor, i want to check out any cheap controllers for astro.
So far its i have been looking at kelly controllers. Would one of those work for an astro 3210 motor?

Do you need to buy an expensive programmer for it? i am trying to buy a controller to power the motor for under $700 (including programmer, throttle too)

Are there any other controllers that can run an astro or brushless motor similar to that power range

Castle Creations HV160

kelly controller would work but you need either optical or hall sensors to sense the position of the rotor, see thread below

for an alternative to kelly controllers, look at lyen's stuff here in the for sale section

It can be done quite easily if you have done it b4,

How ever i would just use a sensorless controller, makes it really easy.

Astro motors are pretty damm loud in my experiences with them
