hello I have an electric scooter with a 24v nominal battery. I have an off road led light on the handlebars which is rated for 30V, but I want to use a different switch, one that can mount to the handlebars which is a 12v switch. Can anyone give me specific wiring information.

here is my led light:

here is my handlebar switch:

here is the relay I have:

I have a whole lot of 10 gauge wire and I want this to work, but I don't think it is safe to wire the ev battery to a 12v handlebar switch, so I want to use a relay. I just don't understand how to wire one of these.

I understand that the relay is setup like this:

.....87 87= Lamp Negative to battery
85......86 85= Negative to battery 86= + Line to switch
.....30 30= + Line from battery

Hello,

I have a 20ah 24v pack of lipo on my scooter I want to run a light from with a switch made by trailtech on my handlebars.

Since I want to avoid having that power sent to my handlebars, how would I integrate a relay to effectively move the magnet in the relay. I would need a second battery, right? I appreciate all suggestions.

At 24 volts I would personally just run the switch loop in the positive of the battery circuit like normal for a few reasons.

1. 24vdc is low enough to where it is not dangerous
2. most contactors will require 12 or 24 volts to engage the coil anyway so you will have that voltage present at the handlebars either way
3. if you have a throttle with LED voltage display, you already have your pack voltage at the handlebars as it is
4. adding a relay with a coil uses more electricity to maintain the circuit(holding the coil down)
5. adding a relay adds more weight to the vehicle for no reason

and last but not least a tiny maintained single pole switch will be cheaper
