Cycle Analyst V3.1 hookup problem

I have had my bike running on a CA V2 successfully. I'm now changing it to a CA V3.1.
Everything hooked up as per manual.
Throttle into CA green, back and red plug.
PAS sensor wire into CA
Throttle wire from Controller into Shunt green wire
Red power wire from Controller plugged into red wire from Shunt

(The diagram in the manual shows the throttle wire coming out of the battery side of the Shunt and the CA plug coming out of the Controller side of the Shunt ? This is the opposite in the 2 shunts that I have from you ? Does this matter ? )

Anyway, when I power up and twist the throttle, the throttle bar on the CA shows movement, but the motor does not turn.It does not respond to pedal input either. Sensor light is working as magnets pass it. PAS bar on CA shows movement when pedals are turned.

I have tried 2 Shunts, 2 Controllers and 2 Throttles.

I can't seem to figure it out. Hoping you can help.

Cheers

First, note that the CAv2 didn't have an actual throttle out, AFAICR. It simply grounded or didn't ground the throttle signal wire inside the controller, and throttle would be directly wired to the controller, rather than to the CA. The CA didn't create a throttle output, it just responded to limiting by turning off the throttle at the controller. I beleive there's a diode in series with the CA connector's throttle wire on these CAv2 compatible controllers so that an actual tyhrottle signal wouldn't be able to get to the controller thru it.

So to use a CAv3 you'd ahve to either open it up and remove the diode, or just connect the v3 throttle out to the controlelrs' actual throttle in instead of the controllers' ca-connector throttle in.

That said: Does the motor / controller work with direct throttle connection to it?

If not, you'll need to get that working first, then get the CA working to drive it.

If the CA is correctly detecting throttle and PAS, what voltage do you measure with a voltmeter on the CA's throttle output wire when manipulating the throttle? Does it match what the CA diag screen (one left button push from main screen) shows?

Hi Amberwolf and thanks for your input.
The CAV3.1 has worked on another bike I have running an older Cyclone3000 kit. (Anderson plug rather than the waterproof one for the motor)
Plugging the throttle directly into the controller, rather than the CA, also does not work.
I am not sure which wire is the throttle output one ? I assume it is one of the 6 in the plug that goes from the CA to the Shunt ?

If connecting your throttle directly to your controller doesn't work, then the controller is not working and you need to correct that before continuing.

It won't matter what the CA's throttle out voltage (range) is until the controller works with a throttle directly connected to it. ;)

What specific controller are you using? Which specific motor, throttle, battery, etc.? Do you have a complete wiring diagram of how you have every wire on the system currently connected, that you can post here?

To find out which wire is which on the CA, you should check the diagram in the manual for your version, as there are different ones with different connectors, and I don't know which one you have, so I don't know which pin to refer you to. I fyou don't have a paper copy with yours, the manuals are available on the CAv3 pages on ebikes.ca.

Looks like the problem is nothing to do with the CA. Hooked everything up, very basic, No CA. And motor wouldn't run. Pretty sure it's the Controller.

See if you still have 5v on the throttle connector with the controller turned on.

4.75v on throttle connection.
UPDATE
Controller okay. Found dodgy connection in small red power wire from shunt.
Motor turns now with No CA connected and CA V2 connected.
Plug CA v3 in and screen is blank apart from flickering. Unplug throttle from CA and screen becomes normal display. Changed throttles and screen is okay but motor doesn't turn.
Is this perhaps something to do with setup of throttle parameters ? However, CAv3 used to work okay on other bike with Cyclone kit. Hmmm !

I am using the standard 40 amp , non programmable Controller with the Cyclone 3000 kit supplied by Cyclone Co Ltd in Taiwan.
It does appear to be working okay now, as motor turned with CAv3 connected but throttle plugged into the controller.
It's strange, of the 2 throttles that I have, one works when plugged into the controller and the other doesn't. But the one that works plugged into the controller, causes the CAv3 screen to flicker and remain blank 🤔 This is with the CAv3 connected. Both throttles are the same model.
Voltage on throttle out of controller is 4.75v
