i got some usb2serial converters named prolific u232-p9

i read that CA needs 0-5v i/o to work. these converters seem to upscale their signals to 12v?!
problem is, that when i connect the headphone jack into the CA and start the firmware upgrade it shows ...pc-connection. then i cycle power to it, and nothing happens. screen stays dark.
could the voltage upscale be the problem?

I think you need to convert the voltages 5vdc=-12vdc 0vdc=12vdc you could convert it with a MAX232 chip or other rs232 devices. I am assuming it is rs232 with TTL levels.

just bought that one: http://www.ebay.de/itm/USB-To-RS232-TTL-PL2303HX-Auto-Converter-Module-Converter-Adapter-5V-3-3V-Output-/350568364250?_trksid=p5197.m1992&_trkparms=aid%3D111000%26algo%3DREC.CURRENT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D14%26meid%3D5212925988761549954%26pid%3D100015%26prg%3D1006%26rk%3D1%26sd%3D350568364250%26#ht_6477wt_1191
for $1.68 shipped it's cheaper than buying a max232 and soldering it myself :)

If you want to open up the cover on the converter , you could tap in before the rs232 driver.
thanks. but i'll keep the converter intact, and wait for the little board from china. there are so many other thing to do at the moment. it's ok to do this in 3 weeks when new parts arrive :)
