Just bought four 12v 12a sla from Radio Shack. Voltage's were at 12.03, 11.92, 12.08, 12.00. There is a code stamped on cover like this 1217 10 There supposed to be a space between the 17 and 10. (seen it post without the space between numbers before). So what do you think is manu date? These were bought cause of a post recently that they have a sale on with free shipping. Tested one cycle so far on powerlab8 got 7.5 ah out of it at 5ah discharge. Same as capaicity as the one's I replaced. Thanks

Lead acid are supposed to be kept fully charged, at least 12.7V.

I assume you meant 7.5Ah at 5A. What was the cutoff voltage?

Generally speaking, you should never use more than 50%. And that is at 0.05C or 0.6A. At 5A, you should have stopped at around 5Ah. That's theory, people don't use lead acid correctly leading to its extremely short life.

sam, yup , and 2nd cycle was about 7.7 ah at 5a load the lvc I don't remember what it was set at, probably the preprogrammed setting, my computer wasn't reconigeing the pl8 for some reason. I will try a .06ah discharge next.
