I was reading through the EV Basics Threads and I found this one:

I just have one simple question.

Are we talking about the everyday laptop battery charger/AC power adapter??

I have 3 laptops and can't find anything on them about "switching power supply" written on the adapters.

Yep. Virtually all laptop supplies are switching mode.

Look at the input specification on the power adapter. If it states 100v -240v or similarly wide input range, then it must be a switching supply. An non-switching (linear) supply will have a very narrow input range. Linear supplies also have large, heavy iron transformers, so weight is a clue.
