I have been frustrated with battery technology over the last few years.

Therefore the last two days i began designing a serviceable battery pack based on 18650.

I purchased some materials for it today.

Its not going to be lightweight but it is going to be seriously strong and serviceable.

Necessity is the mother of invention

Has anyone else had a crack at a project like this?

Maybe read a few threads also, before you start.!
A simple search,..or quick scan with open eyes,...down this forum, will give you a few ideas as to how many folks have done this already !
Maybe a little help...

I am purchasing the cyclone 3000w thats why i am doing the custom build- i dont know of any aftermarket battery options other than the lipo i already jave.

I have the lipos to do the job, however I want something more user friendly.

But i am looking for something streamlined working through these questions.

1 fire safety in discharge?
2 collision proof
3 anti theft
4 ergonomic into the frame

I understand vanmoof designs battery imside the top tube - anti theft

Having lived in central amsterdam for three months.Make one mistake on bike security and its gone. Forget having nice handgrips and pedals from companies like ergons etc.
There are even some arseholes going around with vans and plasma cutters.

Anti theft seats also good, i went with a heavy as ABUS chain, axa rear wheel lock I didnt loose my bike.

A small crow bar/hacksaw blade a pair of engineer wire snips - 2 minutes the battery is gone.

I may even do a mock test next time i am in holland - leave an empty battery case filled with sand for 1 month day and night and see how long it lasts out at junky central bike parking.

Spend all this time money on a battery build I have to make it theft proof - thats number 1.
