Every tutorial on the internet (literally every) already has the freewheel removed before they show you how to properly take apart your ebike hub case, this is very unfair of you all omitting this info, so what tool do i need to remove the freewheel from an ebike nine continent hub motor to be precise.

like this tutorial and many, many more like them

For a DD motor (9C, Muxus) 14mm axle, you don’t really need to remove the freewheel although I think it might be easier should you need to lube and perhaps clean the axle before it will slide off the bearing under the cover?

Geared Q100/128 motors 12mm axle, must remove freewheel in order to reach the screws holding the clutch assembly to the cover. Not applicable to your description/situation but it should be noted in freewheel tool discussions.

Tool required - very simple but this often trips people up. 9C DD motor or any motor using 14mm axle diameter will need a slightly modified freewheel removal tool/socket. The center hole will need to be 14mm or 9/16” for the axle to pass through.

I bought a cheap eBay freewheel removal tool and was able to easily drill/enlarge to a 14mm hole.

You can also buy a ready made freewheel tool with 14mm hole:

The wrinkle here is that some of the mini geared Q motors using 12mm axle often won’t need the “special” freewheel and practically any basic bicycle freewheel tool will work on those motors. These motors do need the freewheel removed to disassemble.

If yours looks like the one on the left rear of my SB Cruiser, or the front of my CrazyBike2, then you don't need to remove the freewheel at all to take the side cover off.

If you wanna replace the side cover with a new one and want to move the freewheel over, then you would need to take it off.

If your motor does look like mine, then if your side cover isnt' coming off for some reason, it isn't the freewheel keeping it on there.
