I need some one to open their's, I was charging my bike a couple minutes ago and I started to smell the magic Genie smoke and when I finaly seen that the led's on the charger were no on any more I knew where is was coming from...When I opened it up to fix it, I ran into my first problem a blown cap, no big deal just replace and it is done, then I saw the real culprit and it was a small now whight Resistor that was a NASA grade blue type befor the electric fire....No markings but if some one has a controller to match mine, could you open it up and give me the colors to help me fix this problem.

Ok, so I fixxed it, I guessed the ohms for the resistore since all the ones around it were all 100-110ohms any ways, so I got a couple 100ohms ones and I hope it works or I will just have to buy a whole new charger

As for the blown cap, Dumb ass radioshack dont sell shit no more so I had to buy two 50v2200uf caps to run in series to make the 100volt cap I need.

Question????? can you run caps into nother caps, I have not had to touched one in years so I feel out of the loop and a small voice in the back of my head is telling me "no that is a bad idea" So I will wait for some one to tell me what to do

Oh, so I plugged it in, and nothing again! So I looked even harder at the bord and well I will have to head back to the city again to get some more caps, The small black one with the orange gooooo on the top is also bad(I totaly over looked it in the excitement of finding the core bad parts...It happends a lot to many others as well?! )

keep us upgaded on this. i recognize that, its a common charger.

chargers and controllers are the most common things to go on EV's. we could all learn from this?

I am picking up a new one soon so I can match up parts on the broken one, most of the parts inside smoked so bad that the name/numbers burnt off

I second the motion for another update on this thread. I have a bad 36v charger myself but didn't even open it up I went straight for the upgrade to a 48v system which I am sure I won't regret lol! Nevertheless I find this fascinating as I am a complete boob er I mean noob regarding electricity and soldering, etc..

This is great to see and I am certain it will come in handy in the future, as I am ambitious enough to want to try my own troubleshooting/repair moving forward.

Thanks and good luck.

ya I need to get that charger soon, my bike has been sitting dead for weeks now and really needs to charge
