Was checking these badboys out to see if they could possible be eBike material.. after feelin' a little sour about the golden motor 5kW units..

Looks like a 21" wheel ( tall moped tire ) does about 630rpm at 40mph. That is the speed i want to aim for, actually.
A ~4 to 1 reduction make this happen in 1 stage of chain and sprockets , 12S Lipo.

I can't find much in the way of info on these on the 'net. So i thought i'd hit you guys up..

Wondering particularly about this statement, as seen on many product descriptions for this motor:

Commutation is accomplished with an internal Hall Cell assembly, connected to the 6-pin external wire harness.
This Brushless motor requires a 3 Phase 8 Pole PMAC controller.

Is this true? are these motors special in any way? or can you just drive them with an infineon style controller like anything else?

That is a big heavy motor, it is what I use to power my Suzuki SP200. I run mine on a Kelly Controller, but an Infinion should run it as well.

Yeah, but at 22lbs it is lighter than the Crystalyte 53xx, 54xx, and just a smidge heavier than the cromotor.
It should have more continuous power ( ~6hp ) than all 3, and it is cheaper than the latter two.

But i don't hear anyone talking about it on here.

I know it's heavy, but i like the idea of something that can do service in a motorcycle or hybrid car later on, after i am done chasing the ultimate eBike grin.

btw how does it perform on your motorcycle?

I run it on 20S5P of the Turnigy 20C 5AH packs. It gets me to 50 MPH without a sweat, decent acceleation. Does not get much more than warm on a 9 mile trip. I have around 12,000 miles on it so far.

Cool! I'm impressed with the fact that the small one can propel a motorcycle so well.
Your bike is rather light, so that helps.

You mentioned a 15 mile range in your EVAlbum page, is that at top speed continuous?

When the batteries were new, yes. I xould get at least 25 miles if I kept the speed around 30.

That's not the small one it is the medium, I believe, they make a smaller one, and also a double stack larger one.
