e-bike categories

i think it might be useful to create seperate categories for hub bikes and motor mounted bikes for e-bike design and testing and photo creations
because its hard to sort through the different types of bikes when they're all lumped together. i look through the topics and it would make it easier to find what your looking for if you knew where they all were. make sense? i would like to be able to look through a list of hub designed bikes and likewise another of motor mounted designs. there are enough of each that it would be practical to sort them now before it gets to big and unwieldy.

do you want to have a poll or is this just a great idea?

If the software in its present form can handle categories-in-categories, then I think your suggestion is a great idea, else not.

It won't go sub,sub, another category would have to be created. The newer version of the forum software will do this, but since it's still in beta I'm not up to just throw it on here and hope for the best just yet. When the new PHPBB3 comes out (which it's getting close with the release candidates), then yeah it's a wonderful idea and the forum software will support it right away on the next release.

I think it would be more helpful to split it into "purpose" of bike.

As far as I can tell there are about 4, with some crossover.

- Electric Motorcycles. Pedals for legality only. If you can pop wheelies with your motor only, and hit 80+km/h, this is you.

- Commuter bike - adding hillclimbing or more speed to get somewhere faster/easier/heavier load. But pedaling is still important.

- "Fun" bikes, like the choppers.

- Mobility assist bikes - most commercial ones fit this category unfortunately, at least here in Oz. Not really represented here....thankfully.

well you could just change the name of the category from ebike testing and reviews to ebike testing and reviews - hub mounted motors and below that put
ebike testing and reviews- frame mounted motors
photos - hub bikes
photos - frame mounted motors

would be just as easy to make the title of a thread clearer. but i know that's not always that simple.

I think this forum is blooming nicely, at some point it may be needed to keep things organized, but personally i like things simple.. less categories the better imo.
