E.S. Endorsed Vendors?

This community has become one of the main sources for Ebike information on the internet. No other forum has as many active members, or as much information as we have here. I might go as far as to say most of the Pioneers of Ebiking call this forum their home on the internet.

My hat off to knightmb for providing this place and the work of all to keep this place running.

I think there is more we can do, too. I think we could do the Sport of Ebiking a good service by endorsing Vendors. Letting them put up a seal on there product, web pages, or store that lets the world know we aprove of them.

I see this as a first step to what I hope would eventualy be a North American Ebike Trade Association.
Thats a step that may not be taken by us here, but may grow from what we do. Its a step the manufacturers and vendors them selves will have to take, but the first step is for us to recognise the best of the best publicly, in a way the rest of the world can see.

Anything that promotes Unity among the Ebike world will benifit Us, the consumers, as well as the manufacturers and vendors. I think this is a small step in that direction, but an important First step. I don't think at this time anyone accept us could do it with any legitimacy.

Take a poll to decide who gets endorsed? I can think of several we could easily agree on, but others may not have earned it yet. Quite a few have my personal endorsement, but an ES endorsement would be a much higher level.

How about vendor of the year?

being a nominee could be a sort of endorsement, plus the forum could recognize advances and excellence.

The criteria would have to be preset and reused each year, and each would be its own poll.

1. customer service
2. quality products
3. product development.
4. product improvement

That's a good way to do it. Even being second for that is great publicity. Somehow limit it to people who actually got stuff from that vendor that year? Or the previous two years?

Vendor recommendation can be done in different ways. Now one can look in the two sticky threads ("vendors to gravitate to", and "to stay away from"), and use one's own judgement based on the various posts. Maybe the info in these threads can be organized better.

The proposal to "ES endorse" vendors means someone or a group has to make a judgement call who passes the bar. This may work well, but it could also be a source of friction among members.

if someone bauys an ES
'approved" product and has a serious problem[accident? or product failure] there could be some flashback on ES... abetter way might be to give an ES rating.. ratings would only be given to field tessted products... such ratings would be of GREAT value to all and would certainly make ES the focal point for all those interested in acquiring ebike and peripheral components.....DEFINITELY A SERVICE THAT IS NEEDED[and not jus for ebiks] considering that most of what we buy is sourced offshore and is expensive and time consuming to replace GREAT IDEA LETS DO IT
