E-S Phasor Electric Bike Owners

Managed to find some time over the Christmas break to do some upgrades. First Samd hooked me up with a MXUS3000 which has replaced the HS4065 and is performing well. This has been laced into cheap 19"*1.85" motorcycle rim with eBay tyre. End result is heavy compared to a 26" bike setup but is strong and even when I managed to get a flat was still able to limp home given the motorcycle tyre. For those hesitant to try and lace their own I didn't find it that hard and trued the rim on the bike. Given I had modded my 4065 with cooling etc wasn't sure how much extra performance I would get form the MXUS given they are essentially the same size except for the depth of the stator (my spokes were originally cut for the 4065 but fit the MXUS just the same). Upped the phase amps a little but the MXUS coupled with the Adaptto Max is all the power you need if you are doing single track in my view. The torque and acceleration is motorcycle like and peddling is now optional even on the steep bits. Welcome arm pump (someone has got to make a decent soft throttle) and the need to purchase full face downhill helmet given the rocks, trees and Kangaroos.

Printed off a fairing for the wires existing the Max E which is working well in keeping the crap out.

Was a bit worried about foreign objects damaging the BMS so printed off a little case to keep everything protected.

The Crystalyte did ok given I was pushing through 6KW through it peak but it definitely looks decidably low end compared to the MXUS. The latter appears to be better quality in terms of casting and components etc despite it being cheaper than the HS4065 at least in OZ. The combination of the 19" rim and the MXUS is clearly felt in terms of torque and acceleration and I would strongly recommend it be paired with good brakes (I am running MT4's) as it goes. I haven't explored top speed as I ride in the bush where acceleration and manoeuvrability are key weaving through the trees etc. The other observation I would make is that the MXUS V2 does a great job of absorbing peak heat loads even without being vented. I know the Cro guys may disagree but this thing has all the power I need in a package I can lift over a fence. If I want more I'll hop on my KTM350exec noting it is the weight balance that I most notice now. Would really love a mid-drive with the same power......
 
wingsuit, it could be confusing when connecting ready made lipo bricks to the BMS.
But when you do the pack from scratch it is actually really easy. You don't have to think about 4 or 6s. You just take what ever you have and connect it one by one to the BMS board. So if you have 10p you connect first 4 to bms then another 4 and then the last 2. In total, 3 boards to be used.

I think its just cause I have to make a few smaller packs to fit it all in the frame (cant just make one big pack). In that case I'm already making multiple packs, so I might as well make them 4s packs as its easier for me to string them together for the adapto. A lot of people on this site have a ton more knowledge than me, and this being my first ebike I'm trying to keep it simple.

back when I was looking at 6s lifepo bricks, it was doable, but just felt like I was gonna walk into screwing it up cause I dont have enough experience yet.

this way I will make 5 4s packs in series for a 20s battery. gives me 84v charged which isnt too shabby, and still easy to string into the adapto.

I might be able to fit 3 7s packs and get myself up to 88v, but for now anyway I think I'm going to stay on the simple side. plenty of time for new configs as I get more into this hobby.
 
hey wingsuit - I have 2 HPC 12.5 AH packs in series they charge up to 57 volts each so 114....I have a 4065 and a Lyen 18 controller went over 35 miles today up backroads to tops of valley where I live...even after all that climbing could hit 48 mph after 35 miles!...(used 7.44 AH out of about 10 which is what I can get out of the batteries before they cut out) you may not need as many batteries as you think unless you want to go full throttle all the time...

Korpin, looks like you have about 1300Wh in your battery. Yes you always count in Wh instead of Ah. This is because everybody runs with different voltages.
On 1300wh I could get around 50km range with 4500watts of power, pretty much what you getting. Then I switched to Adaptto and started to pull double, around 9000watts. So you can now guess what impact it had on my range, only 25km.
So it all depends on how much power wingsuit will push from that battery.
 
with that proposed 20s9p total bat, I'd get around 1600 wh. if I go down to a 20s8p it goes down to 1400. (I think... as I'm multiplying ah against nominal voltage, not charged voltage)


my commute is about 30km each way, and I've never been much for taking it easy. a lot of time is spent finding areas for jumps or long wheelies.


ive been told battery would be about 11kg (about 24lb). right now my bike is about 80lbs, so id be up to 104lbs total.

the battery isnt likely to be pushed too terribly hard as I'm only running a mini-e, and the 25r cells are capable of pretty decent draws I believe.

HOW DO YOU LIKE THE ADAPTTO?...and are you using 5000 series crytalite motor?..i am using 4065 and whether I set CA from 25 to 40 amps it does not seem to change the top speed (around 46-50 mph)....but its a good compromise between climbing and speed and range at 25 amp setting....

oh..can you use CA with Adaptto?...
 
The adaptto is the best controller out there right now.
I used my 5403 crystalyte with 10S pack, thats 37Volts and top speed was 70km/h, no controller could ever get me up to that speed.
You can throw away you CA when you buy Adaptto, because it has its own display, much more advanced.

If you corntroller is programmed to 25Amps and you change this value in CA, nothing will happen, because CA cannot change(write new) actual settings in controller itself.
 
I purchased an adappto max-e yesterday and awaiting shipping info now.

Allex - I briefly looked at the adaptto threads for more details on lower voltages with this controlle. Is that because
some feature the controller has ? I think I read that about the sabvoton just forgot what it was called. field weakening ?
I think that's it.

I am trying to determine where I can get the best bang for the buck with 18650 cells.

If I could stay at 12S that sure would help with simplification.

I have a new headset and crankset for my Phasor.

I am really really close should be good to go when the weather starts to warm.

well my Lyen is set at 100 phase current and 45 rated current...I was told by Lyen that probably I have reached the maximum speed for this torque wound motor so it does not really matter much (maybe 2 mph) whether I program 45 amps or 25 on the CA
 
well wired my Lyen for cruise control...it works,but now quite sure how I got it to come on...my phasor is pretty reliable lately

not too far from my ghetto apartments in los angeles maybe a 30 minute bike ride there is a park about 5 miles by 4 miles with all kinds of dirt roads,fire breaks and horse trails took a photo hard to believe its in my neighborhood

they even have an old wood house from the 1800's still standing there!

well it only took two years but its 95% done and reliable now....features:

1)I put new controller on now inside the frame it does not get as much cool air but its better protected from the elements.

2)got brake regeneration which puts charge back into wheels when I brake and wired up cruise control too!

3)Replaced high speed motor with torque motor for better climbing ability lost some top speed goes about 50 M.P.H. give or take a few depending on headwinds

4)Average range around 40 miles give or take 20 depending how hard I push the throttle

I really like your Phasor Dorian, but I think you are going to have problems with the controller inside of the frame, unless you got some venting going on.

yeah you may be right....may have to put it back in the case and outside....or maybe just go to an adaptto like nine lives above like his set up!
 
great set up nine lives! saw a video where I guy went over 100 kph with that motor...does the MXUS3000 have hall sensors so you can program regen?...from the videos it appears to climb much better than my 4065 but for me regen is a must!

test drove the HPC revolution with crown 4110 I believe it was bike was charged to 88 volts (tops out around 100) the bike had plenty of torque I noticed MUCH more than my 4065 I am guessing the crown is close to the MXUS3000 on the crown 4115 their top speed was around 60 MPH....which seems close to the 100 KPH the Russian guys were getting with 10,000 watts I believe HPC was using around 6000 watts not sure though

I first do a 74V run and make it to 70km/h then change the OVS from 0 to 7 on the adaptto and it makes 100km/h
It a nice little motor.

it appears you said you were running 13 kw on that test...if you ran a more reasonable 6 or 7 kw any idea on what the top speed would be?.....and do they have that motor with hall sensors?

You need to have around 4000W to get to 80km/h and about 7000(not sure) to hit a 100.

OK I THOUGHT I read somewhere somebody said they could not get regen with that motor was thinking maybe it did not have halls

it seems the crown and that motor are pretty close

looks like the MXUS is lighter than the crown because of aluminum stator and probably cools faster

also price is better I believe ....they have four different windings not sure which one I need for 100 volt system if I want at least 50 top speed and lots of torque?

and I am assuming this will work with Lyen 18 fet controller?
