Recently my ebike shorted out why I was riding it I had exposed wire and I'm wondering if I fried my controller does this mean I fried it and is that white stuff supposed to be in there it like a wet white something not sure if moisture got into it or what. If anyone could answer that be extremely helpful haven't been able to get my bike working since the short

black burnt areas on a pcb are signs of blowing components, moisture and crystalline deposits indicate corrosion and provide for circuit breaks or shorts.

Moisture can condense from the atmosphere under the right conditions and cylinder capacitors can leak electrolyte..

do you get 5v logic power for sensors or is the controller totally dead?

Honestly not even sure I'm new when it comes to ebikes and how they work I've tried hooking it back up the way it was and I know my display don't work it was on my aerial rider that was stolen and all the wires were cut so I got it to work for a week or so and then it shorted out from the battery for the head light and now I can't get it to do anything really

The wet material on the metal plate is thermal paste, used to improve heat transfer. I don't see any evidence of the crusty white corrosion that happens when water gets into my controllers. Your problem is more likely the external wiring.

You might want to talk about which wires were cut, and how you fixed them. Did you just twist them back together and tape them? Were the display wires cut. Did it work when the bike was running?

Yes I got it to work everything was working except my light and one night I needed the light so I hooked up the light to some extra black and red wires I had on controller it worked great then next day I unplugged the light and that same day I was riding it and screen cut out and then it sparked from the wires touching and then I pushed it home and it won't do anything I have a different ebike I tried using the screen on that one but it wouldn't power up and I was using the bullet connector
