I'd like to buy an ebike tester. What's the best one to go with? I'd like to get it asap since my etrike just died on me for unknown reasons.

Lyens sells a good one, look him up in the for sale new, and contact him.
Similar if not identical ones on ebay, but might not ship from the USA like from Lyens.
A few tests are easy. Shorted phases indicate by excess resistance to turning. Unplug your phase plug and the problem goes away, then it's shorted at the controller.
First step of any troubleshoot, find that cut wire or unplugged wire. 90% of the time that's it on my bikes, one wire backing out of the plug housing.

Lyen would be the quickest to ship and a great guy to buy from. I don't know any other U.S sellers, though you can find the same tool on ebay from HK for a bunch cheaper. you would not get it quickly.
The tester is a great tool to have around, but if you have a voltmeter (and even with the tester you'll need a voltmeter) you can troubleshoot most problems without the tester. It just takes a bit more time.
