Looking for vendors that sell triangle shaped battery packs intended for the inside of a bike frame can anyone point me to s website besides this one....

http://em3ev.com/store/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=123

EM3EV, FalconEV, and Hi-Power Cycles are the proprietors I know of. There is also custom frame bag makers i believe.

Ibera offers some new ones. Kinda thin but might work for small RC Lipoly pack?

Somebody bought one or two recently in a thread last month IIRC.

wait, are you looking for "triangle shaped battery packs" or triangle shaped bags to put batteries in? from your post I understood the former, but now I'm not sure.

If it's the former, I know that Ping can make custom shaped packs if you're interested. If it's the latter, I bought 3 of those ibera large sized bags and I really like them, but they aren't as large as they appear. It fits my 48V 10AH BMSbattery.com LiCoMn pack just fine (pictured below) but it won't fit my 48V20AH pack, unfortunately...

basically the problem with those bags is that while they have a large total capacity, a lot of it is the unusable corners. You are still limited by the largest square battery you can fit in there, which is much smaller than the triangle actually makes it seem. Even overlaying the square battery on the triangle bag sometimes make it looks like you might get lucky, only to find out the zipper won't close (insert joke here).

One can get around this.. :]

yea, rc lipos make packing a much happier experience. the big li-ion squares are more of a problem.

I could easily squeeze both of my packs, my controller and excess wire in there and still have room left over. Now I just need to find some money.

I've already been in contact and decided I will buy from him.

Thanks!

Will post my pictures reviews and performance later on.

HI Neptonix - I was wondering if you have any pics of how those batteries connect to the controller. thanks
what is your V and AH for that setup?

thanks Im a newb looking at the triangle

Using a wiring harness that hooks them up in series and parallel of course.

This is hobbyking RC Lipo. Hope you've done your research on how to use this w/o burning down your house with em. Great batteries, but you need to know what you're doing.

I bought their "large" size, which arrived yesterday. Alas, it's too narrow to take my Ping 36V15AH battery, so I plan to return it. I may end up making my own.

Right now, I think you can get triangle battery packs from em3ev.com, Luna Cycles LLC, Calibike, and Hallomotor

Talk about bringing a thread back from the dead ;)

beware of those calibike packs though. Some bad juju (cheap cells - first ultrafire and now generic no-name cells) in those suckers.

There's loads of triangle packs on Aliexpress now.

Quality is uncertain on aliexpress. You can bet they use the cheapest cells, not the best cells. The result will be a pack that lacks the capacity you thought you bought. You are better to buy from one of the well known distributors shipping from the US, who stand behind their offer. It will certainly cost more, but this is a case where you get what you pay for.

You only have to look at the listings. Many of them say which cells are in them. It's not better to buy from a more expensive supplier. Better for whom, anyway? It's best if you get a battery that meets or exceeds your requirements at the lowest cost, bearing in mind the delivery time. Different people have different attitudes to risk. Unless people try different things, we'll never know what's best.

True, there are loads of battery packs on Ali and they generally work if you don't care about their size, weight, and performance. However, triangle packs are normally used in conversions where weight and size do matter. Those packs tend to be bulky (for their meager capacity) delivering 30A discharge at best before overheating. 48v 20As take up the whole frame space. That's because they are often built with the cheapest/generic or low-capacity/older type cells and chemistries.

What's the basis for your statements about those Aliexpress batteries? As far as I can see, many of them list the type of cells, some of which are about as good as you can get, not at all bulky for their capacity and with very high discharge rates. Did you read the descriptions in the listings? Which ones are using older tpe cells and chemistries?

I have bought one item successfully on aliexpress, but remain cautious. There are safeguards, payment via Paypal and supposedly aliexpress warranty as well.

But I have on two occasions bought products from china that were counterfeit. One was a batch of 100 memory cards, all defective junk. The second was a batch of several hundred power transistors, which had very small die signal transistors in place of the large die of a power transistor. These passed incoming inspection and were included in customer sales, which ended up as expensive returns when the buyers used the parts under full functionality and they failed. I also sold some electronic components to a Hong Kong buyer who claimed the parts were bad, though they were brand new from a US distributor and I had used them myself. Live and learn.

I regard a Chinese vendor's claim that he uses a particular part, say a particular Samsung 18650 cell, with great skepticism. The part may be the right color and imprinted with all the right labels, but be completely phony inside, as were my memory cards and power transistors. The Chinese are very clever. Some of them have been counterfeiting for decades and are quite good at it.

This is experience, not speculation, and it makes me very skeptical when dealing with Chinese vendors directly. You need to have credible protection on your buy. A guarantee of timely delivery, and a quality guarantee is necessary, and it must be backed by a dependable third party. Aliexpress, subsidiary of giant Alibaba, is credible but I still am cautious, having been burned. I also read of the experience others had with Taobao, another chinese website for goods. Slow delivery, non existent stock, and delay in getting refunds turns me off totally to that site. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

Sometimes a small savings in price is not worth a huge headache hassling with delivery and quality issues. This is a personal judgement, and I know others might decide the savings was worth some risk. Just proceed cautiously.

anybody have a aliexpress triangle pack that they have bought recently? Looking around. Rather pay 399 for a 20ah pack then spend 700 for the same thing.

Yeah I did, see my thread here https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=80860
Getting less than 15 ah out of my 20ah pack but the price was right. All in all I am happy with it considering I didn't want to pay a lot for my first ebike setup. It was kind of a novelty to build this bike and I wasn't sure how much I'd be riding it.

Now here we are several weeks later and I have commuted every day on my bike. If I could go back I would probably buy from a local dealer and I will for my next build. 72v/40ah in an EEB frame will be my next bike hopefully!
