Ebikes about to get more expensive

..yeah this is one reason why i'm buying all my stuff now, lol

I believe that tariffs on small individual orders on aliexpress fall into some crack and are ignored.. Back when the Cheeto started these trade wars, and ebikes were going to be included, I bought my TSDZ2 kit from pswpower a month before it went into effect. Didn't even open it for a couple of years. When I finally installed it in 2022, the price had gone down. Seemed almost 100 bucks less.

Wouldn't buy batteries from CHina anymore.

When was it?... 2016?.. '17?, when our previous Prez mentioned elevating steel tariffs 25% on China. This was weeks BEFORE the tariffs were to be officially imposed. The very next day I hot-footed to my local steel supplier thinking I would easily beat the price hike, but nope... got dinged anyway, yes... 25%

For weeks I was bitter about it, but eventually cooled-off and returned to purchase enough steel to build a customer's trailer. While digging through the rems pile, I fished-out a short 2"x2"x13" square wall rem... and boldly printed on it was the manufacturer' logo.... from South Korea.

Sorry, my Chinese is a bit rusty. Could you let the rest of us in on the joke?

Sorry, Googled it after posting: "Electric bicycles are still the trend of the future, and the price will only get cheaper and cheaper, because there will be more and more sellers, but a brand with good reputation and good quality, his price will stabilize at a higher level"

Tariffs will increase prices on the lowest quality imports to the US so I would say it is pretty awesome for the companies already making real quality bikes in the US and that they will se increase in sales.

I think Grin was very smart for working on inhousing/onshoring motor, controller, and other accessories production. They may survive the de-chinaficiation of the EV industry.

There are only a few tiny sellers of USA made stuff and i hope they benefit from this and can grow to enough scale where they can fill the void left by cheap Chinese goods.. maybe other countries where manufacturing is still cheap ( Mexico, India, etc ) will also help fill the void.

I grew up in the east bay area of California and we had factories that made pretty much everything. With globalization those factories are long gone. If China were eliminated as a supplier it would take a decade plus to re-industrialize.
That's why I think it is wise to buy your manufactured goods now, because if there is war with China we will all be in a world of hurt.
