Hello Chaps

The nice weather we are having have twisted me in to getting out my KMX 3 wheeler, this bike is an amazing amount of fun. People seem to like it as well as it is a little unusual.

At the moment it is running on a 10lbs 15AH lipo pack at 37V, this with the taller gearing and the decreased wind resistance takes the bike over 34mph on the flat and the little lipo dishes out 40A when required, the watts up has shown power as high as 1.6KW! great fun only inches off the ground.

I am going to do a nice sunny video in it tomorrow just for the hell of it, I then have a nice big blue lipo pack to try courtesy of Team Hybrid, it is a 48V 20AH 60A 18lbs Peak pack, should be amazing on this little bike.

So much nice than all that snow i rode in last time, although it was a lot of fun, if you didn't see the snow video you can here, http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=8137594005476674734&q=snow+kmx the next one will be a little less slippy!!

Keep an eye out for the video, if you are in the UK Mark at Team Hybrid can sort the batteries and motors of course but will also be able to get the new Mark 2 KMX coming very soon!! I want one :)

Happy Easter Guys!

Happy Easter Knoxie,
Looking forward to the new video :) your other ones have been an invaluable source of information and very entertaining. They've helped me learn about ebikes!
Keep up the good work!,

Hi

Glad you have enjoyed my other videos, I have made so many now i loose track sometimes! ha ha ha but I do enjoy making them and I only do it because the rides I am taking are so impressive. This little KMX can hold 30mph with only 150W of power! thats amazing and is why I want to share it with the world :)

Polishing the lens now and will get out with the easter bunny's and make a nice spring video!

Cheers

building my next project,
u have inspired me to
lower my seat and recline it!
I'll try a chase lounge LOL and see if it can work. Really would cut the wind!(and help my back) May use my 20 ton press on my handlebars LOL

go for it 8)

I love riding this thing, its kind on your back and hands a real joy to ride, if a little scary on the road with all the big lorries! ha ha

A lorrie is a truck. Perhaps the spelling should be different.

My chase lounge is WAY too big. I need a kids'.

Amazingly, the steering could work out: (its a folding scooter) i can fold the handlebar back and adjust the distance!

Knoxie can you help me my savings has just been given a boost and so I have desided to join the elite and go lipo I have a KMX with as far as I know the same motor as you (Kollmorgon converted) I am on 48v nimh at the moment and like the fact that I can keep up with the cars in rush hour. Could you please give me your opinon as to which lipo to go for the 37v 15 AH you were using when youm wrote this post or the new blue lipo pack (both from TEAM HYBRID), I want a max speed of 30mph on the flat with a normal crusing speed of 21 to 25 mph.
Could you please also let me know what sprockets you used, what battery pack and what max speed you could go and hold so I can use find the rpm of the motor, this will alow me to compare this with any setup I am thinking of using, I have devised a EXEL spreadsheet that helps me as long as the rpm of the motor is known, part of the spreadsheet calculates rpm given wheel size sprockets and speed.
Also at that speed what amps were you drawing and if you have the info the whatts and volts.
thats all for now

I too have a question. I'm wondering how the KMX is over rough roads. It seems that there aren't too many recumbents with suspensions. The X cart is supposed to be able to go off road but I'm wondering how it handles rough pavement at around 28 mph or so.

I might be changing jobs and the new office (if i get the job) would be 4.7 miles from my house. I took the gruv-e out and it seems that wind is a big factor in how fast the bike will go-- a good headwind will lower top speed by 3 or 4 miles per hour. I'm thinking a recument would cut wind resistance by quite a bit.

Hello jon

Yes its fine on the bumpy stuff, there is no suspension but it is a steel frame so it does flex quite a bit, if you check the other video I did on google video, I go alongside a reservoir at about 23mph, now that track is very bumpy and rutted, you can see from the video I could actually take one hand off the controls in order to film myself! so yes it wont be a problem.

Heres the links to both videos

Again for better quality download the google video player and then download the movies to play them.

The KMX is a great alternative to a bike, it is very stable, fast and handles superbly, for the money nothing comes near it.

Cheers
