It's time to buy a new truck. Is there a electric truck for sale anywhere? Something a little bigger then a full size van. Contractors truck used to transport tools and stuff. $40,000 or less.

Biggest retail is the Ford Transit Connect. Smaller than a sprinter.

Too much money, $57,400 and too small. I want to stand up inside truck.

i liked the mitsubishi Fujo which is a diesel electric hybrid van. there was picture in the aussie round up get together last year.

125 hp diesel, a special hydraulically shifted gearcase with a big brushless motor sitting on the tranny. gotta be the best for a van. maybe you can find a used one since they have been around for a few years.

How about one of their Izuzu convertions? They are fun and comfy to drive, how about one with a 14ft box on the back??

New truck progress report. Both Smith Electric Vehicles and Estar-ev do not reply to my emails. Did call Smith Electric Vehicles about a year ago. Sales guy called me back and said how many trucks would I like to buy? They only selling fleets. He did tell me the outrageous price. It way way high. Can not remember what it was?

I will probably be buying a gas power Step Van. These trucks come in two parts. Two prices. the body and the chassis. Made a chart of some different chassis that go with a 12 foot Step Van. I be interested in all your thoughts on the different manufactures, motors, transmissions, gears, springs, etc. To save on gas, I will put my electric bicycle in the truck and try to leave the truck at the job like a big portable tool box.

the estar is pretty cool. i got a chance to check one of them out when they did a demo at my school. very big and roomy on the inside and the driver and passenger area seem like a normal car. but the pricetag is ridiculous on it. and i dont really like the single door on the passenger side, sorta like an old box truck. otherwise its pretty cool.

??? for you Marty, What I thought would be a idea is to copy this conversion and pull a enclosed duel axle trailer to keep tools in? http://www.evalbum.com/037
Or maybe convert a ford f250? then keep a genset in the trailer making the combo a hybrid???

Trailers are good for people who do jobs that take weeks or months. Leave the trailer at the job. My jobs take hours, weeks, months, or years. Also I have never learned to drive reverse with a trailer. If I ever did a vehicle conversion it would probably turn into a unfinished project the same as Electric Bike Project #2.

Latest truck I am thinking of buying is a New Isuzu / Utilimaster Van. They have no pictures, no details, and no price. I went to to a local Isuzu truck place. Sales guy said he felt foolish trying to sell a truck with no pictures, no details, and no price. He did show me a picture of the truck with a blanket over it. Will just relax till March 8 when I think they will release information and start selling them.

Here is a picture of New Isuzu / Utilimaster Van. It is diesel power.
