EV Rally/Event in Palo Alto August 25th!

The yellow Vego IQ-450 has the larger rear wheel from a SX-600 and the motor was moved rear of the battery box to make room for a pair of Hawkers inside. Another sleeper..

Hi Fellas

Great pictures! there were some very strange rides in that lot! its good to see! nice to see Maytag and his machine, I trust the Puma is still rocking for you, it seems that Jozzer on here is running his Puma ok at 80V! he is also using A123 batteries as well, I will try higher voltages on my new Pumas soon to see how they hold up.

Thanks for the pictures all, some great snaps in there.

Knoxie

Hey Knoxie, yes the Puma is still doing its thing at 52v. Its been very reliable and for those of you that have expressed concerns about the internal gears might be noisier than the direct drive hub motors, I actually think its a little quieter than my bro's X5. Joystix has sold his 48v Nimh pack and is about to pick up some Milwaukee V28 packs. The prices seem to have dropped about $15 per V28 since my purchase so Im considering picking up more for an extended pack (or to play a little with 78v to break into the 40+ mph club  )

Good to see you back Knoxster, keep us posted on the latest Puma revision tests. I know a few members are eager to get their hands on them and theyve been hard to find here in the states.

Man shows how much I've been around lately, I just found Knoxie's posts on his Latest Rev Puma testing in the "Review and Testing" threads. Great work Knoxie, just by me actually owning a beefed up older revision and reading your early tests at 37v on the new Pumas it wont be long before Crystalyte catches on and comes out with their own version of an internally geared hub motor.

HI Maytag

Yes good to hear from you again, been testing another new Puma and controller today, very impressive indeed as I said on the other post I will put the vids links up as soon as its approved.

Glad to hear your bike is still going well, the nylon gears seem fine with it, the trick is if you split the motor make sure no dirt or debris gets in as it will damage the gears, I never leave them for more than a few mins tops opened up.

Wow its late, I better get off!! These new Pumas and the controller will be exclusive to Mark, I feel bad there is a shortage in the states and I have 10 motors! ha ha I am the master Gamekeeper of all the big cats you see!! ha

Cheers

Knoxie

The motorcycle with the side car is called "Wattsinthebox" and was built by an SJ EAA member, Terry.

The guy with the solar powered trike shows up at the Palo Alto EAA meetings.

Mike, the guy on the bar stool segway: I think he said he got a concussion when it got out of control and he fell off. Good to see he got a proper helmet. It has BMX wheels and NiMH sub-Cs in the floor.

Somehow I missed the electric GPR and the E1. Damn.

More Pics

Hi All,

It's such a shame I'm 5,000 miles away, I would have loved to join you.

The red three wheeler joystix2 pictured is called a CityEl and is manurfactured in Germany. Here is a link to more info and pics on a UK owners website.

Knoxie and others mentioned it would be great to get together in the UK, suggesting we hire Goodwood..... They used to race F1 there in the 40's and 50's. Would you believe there is a Green Power event there on 14th Oct.

We would not be able to ride the track unfortunately, but it's a chance to see all manner of fast electric vehicles.

Cheers,

Ian
