I rarely run full throttle up hills. But even at 60% throttle the BMC/eZee gives better assist than my old 4012 setup at the same voltage (and twice the current). I think the controller will cut out if run full throttle up a very steep hill without any pedaling. I avoid doing this because I'm worried about stripping gears.
