Hi Guys,
I've read horror stories of throttles getting stuck in the ON position. What are your suggested setups for the "Emergency Off" switch?

Well me my switch for the controller, the spring failed so i opened the the controller box and bypass the switch by putting it always on ...but now i am just going to extend those wires to a convenient place with a swtich i already have ...it is a key switch .the controller is a crystalyte 35 amps with the cheap red switch. and yes it hapened to me too the throttle did stay in an opened after i rided it in the rain. so i will double the protection by putting a bag over the throttle when it rains and the switch

I use a relay on the main battery connection. The relay is controlled by a tiny switch on the handlebars.

Oh, but I thought you hated switches and relays in your battery circuit...

I'm covered. Since I'm connected through a backpack, all I have to do is stand up as high as I can. I modified the throttle connector I stuck on top of the PowerPoles. It no longer locks together, so the connections are only held by the Andersons. It has never come off on it's own, but I can pull it apart without even touching it, if I need to :D.

everyone with plug braking will also have a convenient motor cut off switch.

I have a circuit breaker on the battery pack and a string attached to the CB running up to my seat, just yank and power is off. also have a throttle off switch and one ebrake switch, but nothing beats a circuit breaker (rated DC 65v 30 amps).

What's plug braking?

It's a term we came up with to describe a kind of electronic brake. It's just like regenerative braking, only we dump the power to a large resistor instead of back into the batteries.

Only one contact. And it's a hefty one. One of those necessary evils. I've been seriously hurt by runaway controllers before.

Got any good sources for large honking contactors ?

Me thinks i should invest in a few...
Kelly has em fairly cheap.

I'm going for one of these on the battery positive mounted on the frame just below the handle bars for my next build

Not quite as quick to kill as a switch but much better than scrambling madly at a bunch of cables as I accelerate into oblivion (what happens with the current setup)

Also stops people turning on the electrics when the bikes parked.

What's that rated for? I'd hate for it to not be able to handle the amps.

My dream is that one day I'll have a powerful enough motor to have to worry about this...
