Fantic FX1 Battery Fried

A friend has a very expensive Fantic FX1 eMTB. This bike uses a magnet to help secure the battery to the downtube and it picked up a washer. When he went to reinstall the battery, not knowing a washer was in the battery tray, he fried the battery.

1. Just a heads up to be sure your battery tray is clear of debris before reinstalling your very expensive battery
2. Is there anyone / any service that can rebuild a battery using the original battery box? A replacement is nearly $1,000.00.

What exactly do you mean by "fried the battery"?

There are a number of possible damages a washer might do to an improperly built / designed battery pack that has exposed connections to short out. Anything from blowing a fuse (for a less incorrectly designed/built pack) to setting it on fire (for a very incorrectly designed/built pack).
