Feeding 12v 5050 led strip with 48V battery

I'm installing 12V 5050 RGB led strips in my ride as position lights.

I wonder if I can feed them just with a DC-DC converter efficiently, or better to fed them with a independent 12V battery

Either works fine as long as it supplies t he current needed for them.

That DC-DC converter is rated at 12V 10A max, but 6A max recommended.

5 meters 5050 (60 led / meter) is rated 72W (6A at 12V)

That means that I would be able to feed a whole 5 meters strip just with that small DC-DC converter?

If I use the whole 5 meters strip, Should I put a ~7A fuse between Strip and DC-DC converter?
 
I'm assuming you're using a RGB controller.
The small-ish ones have 2A drivers per color string and work (brightly) between 12-24V. They don't use a convertor so the power use @ 224V is almost twice what it is at 12V (not that you intend to run this at 24V, just trivial info...)
Every color other than white uses less than 6A for the whole string
If you only use a single die, like red (R), you only need a 2A (plus a little bit more) source
