I just started on my first ebike conversion using voilmart 1500 watt kit and a mongoose mack.

I just saw that voilmart is selling the clone stealth bomber frames which is what I had really wanted to build in the first place. 289 on ebay with free shipping so that is on its way. has anyone else used the voimart stealth frame yet? i assume its the same general clone frame but was just curios.

Not familiar with that particular knockoff but if it's like most of them you're probably going to want to yank the garbage squishy rubber swingarm bushing out of it and replace it with a proper bearing. Also I'd suggest putting nordlock washers on the swingarm, axles, and clamping dropouts at a minimum.

Tell him forks, too. Doesn't look like a rear shock is in the picture, or even if there is, what should he replace it with?

I don't recall off the top of my head, (Edit: SKF) but frankly if he's savvy enough to be ordering this stuff he's probably savvy enough to do a search and find the info on his own. Especially if his frame is uncharted territory and may not be an exact match for the sizes used on other eeb frames.

Same for suspension. He didn't ask. Why would I even offer an opinion? I have no idea what his budget or intended use is.

I was pretty surprised to see someone riding one of the knockoff bikes here while I was out for a ride the other day. There are a ton on CL with asking prices upwards of 7 grand. Batshit insane.

I should be able to spec out the bearings and other parts. I was more curious if anyone had used this clone yet. If it’s uncharted I can be first.

Intended d use is just a project. All the trails around here are basically fire roads. So it will be on pavement and gravel dirt roads. Nothing terribly exciting

So showed up one day after I ordered. awesome shipping. packaging was great. looks pretty good. does not have the rubber bushings on the swing arm its bushing set up should be pretty easy to press out and replace with bearings.

Well you know, the answer is STILL cheap. New Mustang GT's are neat, but people are more than ready to settle for my 8 year old V6, if only.

I'm pondering getting one of those frames he posted myself. Unless you know a cheaper one. What's a good, cheap mountain bike fork? Doesn't have to be fast.

I'd also like the Dynacorn unibody of the '69 Camaro, I could build it up with maybe the Volt drivetrain. . . .

Oops, over $40k. My old car just keeps getting cheaper.

I'm far from an expert on the subject but it seems that if budget is a concern the USD DNM-8 is worth considering if you're buying new. Decent fork at a good price. If you're buying used and can find something that hasn't had the steerer tube cut to the point of uselessness you can consider stepping up to a more familiar brand like marzocchi, DVO, Fox, etc.

Darn, i is poo people an' wishes to avoid a $500 fork. But i dont know if this one is even worth the $220+.

I've never heard anyone say anything good about Zoom forks. You'd probably be better off trying to source a used DNM.

I hear ya. I'm not exactly rolling in dough myself so I often try to buy quality stuff that's pre-owned when it makes sense to do so.

If you're on a budget and don't expect the world of it the Zoom might be just fine. Just don't push your luck because a fork failure at speed sounds like a bad time. With that questionable looking steerer tube and cast pot metal crown I'd have concerns.

When I was young, I have built pretty good bikes from scrap and recycling. Lots of work but very low cost for good quality. Trading your time and effort for the quality that you can’t afford is wise, instructing and profitable; much better than buying brand new cheap crap.
