 jeez and i was moaning about it being 10c here in blighty!!!
no worries Luke, thank you for the addy, and time, and skills,
hope you included your pp addy there too

D

Get Thud's PayPal address and paypal him something if you want to paypal somebody. He seriously has put more work into making this broaching process possible than I have. He is a damn cool guy as well, and you know the money will get put towards awesomeness that will advance the E-revolution. :)

I did 4 freewheels today in the 20-25deg F weather today, and that's all for today, because the damn propane regulator for the generator freezes up every 30mins of running and kills the gen, and i even ducted the exhaust to blow onto the regulator and the bottle all ready! lol

A day above freezing point will be much nicer to work without the damn gen shutting off mid stroke with the broach. lol

The picture comes into better focus. It was kind of hot today, probably 78°F, and will get down to what my wife now calls "freezing" tonight with a low of about 60°F, pretty much a typical day though a degree or two on the warmer side of typical. The temperature varies so little here that you really don't give it much thought. On the downside, you get spoiled by it, and your body becomes accustomed to it, so you become more sensitive to the usual temperature variations of other locals. eg I now have a big dislike of processed instead of fresh air flow....forget A/C or heat.

Sorry to rub it in guys, but our dry season has started early this year, so if you think about a perfect spring day, that's what we have almost every day through May. You go down to the beach if you want warmer, and higher in the mountains if you want cooler.

It hasn't gone above freezing here since the week started... :(

I gotta move down to CR! It seems like the garden of Eden.

Your not too worried about losing your rear disc brake? I suppose the front brake is the critical one.

This is Luke we is talkin boutz here man! Brakes are for dress wearing tree hugging lentil eaters not
psychotic mofos with no fear and a death wish...brakes pfffft..thats what the soles of his sneakers are for

Seriously though...nice find on the hub their buddy, you will be up and running soon i imagine now you have
your broached freewheels happening!!! Make sure you get some video action before you toast soemthing this time
Luke

If you do want to run brakes in the rear using an SRAM dual drive, you still can. It is available with and without 6 bolt.

http://www.jensonusa.com/store/product/HU407C05-Sram+Dual+Drive+Hub+06.aspx

By the time you add up the price of a click box, 3 speed shifter, chain tensioner, shifter pin, cable, freehub locking cap, rim, spokes, tire and wheel build cost you will be over the price of this 25 pound Schwinn with full suspension and a complete Dual Drive already set up. Add a bike rack for the motor mount and this will make a great performing light weight ebike at the best price for a bike of this weight..

How is that schwinn 'dual drive' i see one chain on one sprocket. NOT two indestructible broached ENO freewheels side by side able drive totally INDEPENDENT of one another...

p.s welcome to the forum

The "dual drive" is the name of the badass SRAM 3-spd hub that has splines on it to hold a pair of broached freewheels. ;) He is just showing a way to buy the 3-spd hub and get a complimentry bicycle with it.

If it had the disc mount, I would have just bought one. Coaster brake on rear only. Sigh...

Seriously, good catch, keep them coming.

This would be a great bike . nice low top tube so my skirt wouldnt get blown over my head AND it looks like it already comes with a "gel" seat so the pansy factor is maxed right out. :p

sorry i couldnt resist. it would be a great platform to start a build on, be nice to have more tubes making up the frame to work with but even if all you did was scavange the rear hub and flog the rest of the bike your probably ahead of just grabbing the hub alone . front fork is ready for a disk thats a bonus.

A complete Aluminum Swingarm Kit with a installed Alternator/Motor that any bicycle can be modified by chopping off the droppout and chain stay and welding on supplied swing arm and shock attachments to the frame is a idea that is waiting to happen. Once the new broached Eno freewheel kits and 219 sprocket adapers are worked out with proven proto type ebikes with or without disc brakes the Ebike marketeers may open there eyes! ? Great RC batteries are improving every day along with easy to get chargers and ballancing systems that are safer and cheaper than ever to begin the light weight, higher power, and more efficient ebike craze. IMO Ebike Motocross using three of these packs per moto on home built bikes would start a new sport! and get high performance ebikes to market in packages that can cost under $1000. Race Ready with Three of these batteries. For legal road riding one or two batteries will do depending on anyones legal requirement so you can ride to your favorite track or trail legaly. :D

I use 3 to go on ANY 25 mile round trip avraging 20 MPH or more if needed with steep hills or not. You prove the point that the same batteries are nice to use on long distance rides as well. Only 3 packs are needed to go 50 MPH + if you need to. = :D
Has anyone noticed the difference between the 5000ma 6-S 20C and the 5800ma 6-S 25C battery ?
It is amazing!

There was a post reporting the release of these as yet though i haven't seen anyone pick them up and
report back with their findings.

I just picked up 8 packs of the 5000mah variety myself.

KiM

Some of us run 16 of those 5Ah LiPo packs on the bike, and the extended range backpack with another 16packs, providing roughly 4kwhrs. :)

I think Methy has 40-some of the 5Ah 6s packs now? Planning to power his th!nk EV with them now or something lame... lol

Err... now we can get back on topic :)

I was board so I thought I would give this ago: I had a knackerd freewheel hub so I cut some angled slots using a dremel cut off wheel.

like this:
freewheel hub1.jpg

and this:
freewheel hub2.jpg

then I pressed this into a freewheel using a 4 inch vice

and this is what happended:
freewheel on hub2.jpg
freewheel on hub.jpg
freewheel1.jpg

It worked a treat. Im very happy. These dicta freewheels are pretty good for the price and good enough for the peddle power. Happy days
