Folding Electric Bike

I have a Dahon Speed P8 with a Bionx kit installed on it. Should I be worried about damaging the wires when folding the bike? Especially the wires going to the battery? I bought the bike for its folding abilities and wouldn't want to lose that function now that the bike is wired.

Anyone ever incur any damage to their electric kits from folding their bike either once or repeatedly? I can see the thick wire going to the battery being bent right where the bike folds and I can imagine it just eventually fraying after repeated foldings. I can already see a line developing in the outside insulation that I would expect to evolve into an open tear.

Should I avoid folding the bike as much as possible?

thanks.

Other than throttle, what other kind of wire do you need to go from back to front? In any case, try to achieve a mild bend by removing cable ties from areas close to rhe bend, so the loop can be longer and less angled.

I have the phantom X2, not damagin wires while folding but I would recommend wrapping the offending wire in extra electrical tape to strengthen its durability.

I haven't installed the throttle on mine yet. I'm mostly concerned with the thick wire right at the fold right near where the battery pins are. It's already reinforced with insulation there, presumedly in anticipation of the folding action it would see.

It may be just me being hyper-vigilant but I don't like the way the wire bends or the resistance when the bike is being folded. I always feel like I'm going to pull the wires from the connection pin contacts when I fold the bike.

I'm starting to think the best practice is to fold the bike as little as possible and only when you absolutely have to.
