Front Fork replacement

I just finished looking at 200+ bikes on Craigs List.

It is dawning on me that if I want a disc brake mount, apparently I have no choice
but to have a suspension fork.
Is that right ?

Thank you,
Corky

It's not necessarily 1:1, but the correlation is close. Road forks with v-brakes don't generally have suspension, and the mountain forks with suspension are moving away from v-brake.

An older bike might have the those options. But, if you want disc, I don't see anything wrong with suspension. If you want disc and rigid, get a suspension fork with lock out and ride it locked. I just bought a fork for my wife from SRAM, Rock Shox XC 28 TK RLO. It has rebound adjust and a remote lockout. Big benefit is the safety valve in lock out mode will allow for some travel if the bump is hard enough, so you have some give if you hit a giant pothole.

Doesnt' Surly make one? I think others do, too.

Adding mounts isn't all that hard if you have a welder--I did it here

by cutting them off another fork and welding them to my Suntour forks. I didn't do it quite perfectly, though, as I was not that careful lining stuff up apparently. Could be done easily enough, if one is paying attention.

I am using 120mm on V2100 no problem.

As mentioned above, Surly makes rigid forks with disk mounts, for instance the Disc Trucker fork has disc mounts and it comes in models for 26" and 700 cc wheels:

A less expensive fork with disc mounts is available from Dimension and I am sure that there are other makers of forks with disc mounts.
