Here is a photo update of my bike, its now almost finished. I am still waiting to get a new CA after I stuffed my old one, and it appears I have broken my rear light some how during a ride this afternoon...so I will have to pull that apart and fix that in the future. Couple of cables also need to be re laid as it looks like spaghetti down there next to the rear brake

Yeah just one major one.....ITS BROKEN
Had a fight with a pot hole and it won....I now have a nice big flat section in my rear rim just where the valve sits... So hopefully ebike.ca will process my order soon...I have a feeling that Brett probably won't have rims and spokes in stock atm..unless he has sorted out his problem with the thief in China. Other then that my modified CA has arrived..

and I have had to replace my rear light because the star LED came loose from its thermal putty stuff... and melted the majority of the lens and ended up short circuiting after it melted the solder joints (may have been combination of heat and been shaken around by the bike). Anyway i replaced it with a new duel Star LED setup that i made similar to my head lights and i brought a proper Star Driver instead of using a resister, its not as bright as it was with just the resister but it still very visible from 50 meters away.
Come to think of it there a few other little developments...
I got my new Basta Defender Lock direct from Denmark thanks to one of my many second cousins.
I have the day off tomorrow so I will try and get pictures...I hope...
Its really handy because It means I can leave my bike in the hallway at college where there is no where to tie it up and not have to worry about someone walking off with....Not that anyone would dare considering everyone knows its mine. but the locked wheel along with the weight makes it very hard for someone to walk off with. It also has a wire attachment that allows me to tie it up to a post or other fixed objects without a separate U lock
But I have to say the service from AXA-Basta was awsome, when i received the lock from my cousin it didn't have the required mounting strips that allow you to fix the lock to the frame. So I emailed AXA-Basta and they sent me a new set for free from the Netherlands. According to them I am the only recorded person to have this lock in Australia. At least it means that even if my lock had the vulnerability that they found last year...(I am pretty sure my one is an updated version since then), I would not be at risk from people been able to open my lock with blank keys.

hopefully it will all get resolved fast. I can understand why people have two ebikes... just to improve reliability
I seem to be breaking small things now :S no more spokes! - the biig tyre fixed that (thanks for the suggestion John) but things like connectors etc.

I keep spare connectors at home ... especially with the andersons... although thinking about it i need to get some new ones cause I used the spares when i reattached the connectors when the bag fell off my bag last time.

Ok picture update....
As you can see my bike is now in pieces again
This image best demonstrates why my bike is in pieces. It still runs but there is a notable bump every time the wheel rotates.
The rest can explain themselves

Couple of question i thought i would add...
My wheel is broken its official...and i have zero knowledge on fixing wheels, Can I get a new rim and just use the existing spokes or do i need to replace them as well..??
Ok i was gonna ask another question regarding dynamic/plug/regen braking but i think i have found an applicable post...my rear brakes suck so i am looking at alternative ways of stopping...

Hey andrew - it depends on the diameter of your new rim's internal wall - ie if the rim is a tripple walled rim vs a double walled of your previous rim, etc.
That being said - the amount of change is ususally fairly small, its worth the risk to re-use your own spokes. However if you are having any iddues with spoke breakage - i'd def replace the LOT. also a high quality downhill rim would be my suggestion ( just good luck finding one for rim brakes - assuming you have them)

Well that may work if i get the Regen brake working...but it looks like the bike will be out of action for a little while...I will go into the expensive bike shop tomorrow and at least get some idea of whats around...

I did the same thing with my wheel...with crap suspension forks.
Now I have decent forks for the motor (FWD) and a dually for my batteries - to protect them from shocks.
My fix was to find a similar crap single wall rim and rebuild it with the same spokes. It's "good enough" and it wasn't that hard. Just make sure you put the valve in the right "spot", so a spoke isn't covering it (look at current wheel). Stick the wheel in a vice, sit the new rim on top, and transfer one spoke at a time.
My more permanent fix is a downhill rim, and a set of spokes from Brett. Probably the same spokes that give you guys all the grief...

The prob with buying spokes is getting the right length with our wierd hubmotors ... I went round a few times with ebikes.ca for a while on that one.
I would suggest getting both wheel and spokes specifically to match your hub from justin at ebikes ... and get a bigger tire.
Like maybe one of these in 26x2.35":

Bigger tire lowers odds that pothole edge meets rim. Rolling friction is not that important on ebikes.

Tires are 94mm wide.... their wheels are pretty big as well, 65mm wide.
If the tires fit, you might have to grind off and re-position your brake hardware ... heh.
