Gettin Coooooold out there..

High of 85F today in Austin.

I go until it snows, temps be damned..

Once the snow starts to fall the salt trucks do their thing and the roads are covered in it, ruins bikes, and add to that frozen ruts that car tires leave all over *( anyone here ride motocross on badly rutted tracks?.. it's like that but without the power to keep you upright )

Temp wise, -10 celcius + windchill factor is harsh but i've done that a fews times ( that's 14f for you americans ) at this point, i drop the winter riding gear and switch to snowmobile gear, impossible to pedal but prevents death.

High of 81F in Austin today. Lots of folks out in the park and paddleboarding on the lake.

Recreationally riding, I tend to like to wait for 50F. Most sunny winter days in the southern deserts will reach 50 or even 60. But if it snows, I don't care how cold it is. Time to go sliding.

Really perv, considering snow a treat! The last two years, any kind of wet is a treat. Did the same thing with rain last summer. MUD! WOW! Had to go out and see it.

Back when I was healthy and did the long commute, I drew the line at 25F or so. 15 miles is a long time in 25f with 25mph wind chill. But closer to freezing was fine. Snowboard helmet, and lab goggles kept all but the chin warm. The rest was fine in ski gear. I just got too cold by 10f below freezing.

It's gotten warm again at night; I only really need the jacket for the last 1/4 of my ride home from work, and only while actually at speed. :( Saw clouds surrounding hte valley the other day, but none intruded over the city. Now takes after 1am before it drops to 60F, and barely gets down to 50F by dawn.
