Non eBike but seemed to be effective non-confrontational method....

Love how the thief sez "don't ride away with it...." Of course, exactly what a thief would do/think.

"We don’t necessarily condone bike re-thievery"

What kind of a thing is that to say? If someone steals something from you, you cannot steal it back because they were never the owner. Taking back what is yours and not shattering bones of a thief seems extremely and unnecessarily forgiving in my mind.

Cops, "they said they might not be able to get back to her today." Who would sit around waiting for the cops to do nothing when an opportunity that she reaped was at hand? "Hey cops, I found the thief who stole my possessions, can you come with me to meet him so you can arrest him when I match up the serial numbers?" Cops "Ah jeeze, were so busy doing far more important things, people who steal your possessions are none of our concern. It's just a stupid bike."

I've actually worried lots about the idea of someone test riding an ebike, either if I was selling one or just letting someone ride it. If I wasn't on something faster or on foot, I'd probably never be able to catch them.

Cool, would be good to see the next level up where the girl wheres a secret camera like spy camera sunglasses or what ever and videos the whole thing.
That way we all get to see this creep thief and shes got something to hand over to police if need be.

Awesome story. She seems very "cheeky" from the photo (on Reddit; NSFW)

i am repeatedly amazed at the laziness of the police. i mean, if they had quotas to fill, she handed them one on a frikken platter! but no, thats simply too much work.
somehow, i think this senario is highly unlikely to happen to our southern bretheren. one or both of the parties would be packing heat

Well, if it was the unresponsive police saying people shouldn't just go take their stuff back, I'd say it's time to disband that department. But since it's just some blog saying it, don't worry about it.

That's quite the large 'Girl' from the pictures. I'll bet she's bigger than the bike thief. I wonder if the B>A> shot is recent or many, many years ago, looks a bit smaller for one thing.
