hi everyone, i am back to build a bike for my mom but not like my previous 100v/100 amp ebike lol!
So i just find a golden motor website here in canada and the price of the motors are not bad and i really love the magic pie 3 series because it look well made for the price
and also hassle free for the wiring but i really don't know if they are good quality motor for stock set up at 48 or 36v ?

I forget to ask if i need to change better bearing ,spokes?

well i didnt have any issues with my Pie so far, running 75V 75A with modded phase wires

only problem i see is if you take motor with rim the spokes are very lose, i guess i will change mine after 600km heavy usage, some spokes are totally free and the wheel starts to get an 8-ish form

Hi lipo4ever, the pies are a sweet little hub in standard form (many poles). My wife (no bias) rated the ride of a pie back to back to her cro motor powered bike(which she loves!!)smoother and more pleasant ride than her regular ride. Peak efficiency is around 1000w for a pie which is in the zone for a mum bike. I wouldn't spend any extra on the MP3 i would just pull apart the 2 and drill cooling holes in the side plates, being "old" she will appreciate the frugality! But the 3 is probably easier for you.

ok lol like I said its a mom bike a build not a 15kw like my previous bike :D and i want somthing good for my mom for a reasonable price , do you use the usb to program the controller? and what is the name of the software to use? thanks

Having the controller in the MP3 is a poor design choice, besides the simplicity. Hard to replace and forces all heat into one place. If I were building a bike for my mum i'd get an EM3EV "500W" kit http://em3ev.com/store/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=54
and run 12S or 16S thru a 40A 12FET 4110. If you have the time, open it up and redo the phases to increase reliability and heat abilities.

The internal controller is junk. Get a motor kit with an external controller.

controller have better quality mosfet but the shipping to canada is very expensive for the kit

the magic pie 2 is external so if it burn its easier to change for a new one also there are so cheap and this ebike will not race but only for cruising, thanks

yes, but it's worth it because its already set up with an overpowered controller and the motor is built into an Alex wheel.

alex rim is use in 9c like have previously and I didn't like it because the spoke was always loose so i bougth a mmamoth rim and rebuild the wheel but because i was pushing wheel while drag race car !!! but this is another story   the reason why i look for low quality stuff its because this set up will not going very fast ,not more than 20mph

Huh?

I dunno how you set your alex wheel up, but cell_man's wheel builds are just golden.

I have not adjusted the spokes on my 3 year old MAC motor hub i got from him, other than the initial post-50 mile tune!
And i'm 250lbs and ride a hardtail over some pretty crappy pavement.

A 9C/MXUS style motor kit is one of the most reliable and dead simple things you can buy right now.

Maybe I am missing an understanding concerning the wheels, but I am under the impression that wheel strength more heavily relies on wheel balance.
