So seeing this is the place for all things electrical with wheels---.
I'm looking for the brightest rear strobe I can mount on my trike without putting on a 12 volt battery. It just spooks me to go out in some of the traffic I have to with out a great attention getter.
Anyone have a suggestion?
Thanks,

I use this. 2Watts, its pretty dang bright. I haven't found much that is stronger, and anything stronger would be blinding at night.

Thank you chase58.
I did not make it clear. I want this for DAYlight. The roads I would have to ride are either narrow or 4 laners all with fair to heavy traffic.
New tadpole seems so low, two cyclist killed around here in last three weeks. I'm just spooked without a "Here I AM!" light.
So, what is the make of the light?
thanks

Sorry, forgot the link:

2 watts is about as bright as you are going to get for a tail light.
It is way bright. I cringe when I see bikes with a barley visible rear strobe. I go for obvious with something like that. This will light up the road behind you in the evening.

I use their front light too:

Although, mine is "only" the 500 lumen model
In strobe mode it is bright enough that cars stop in the middle of the road thinking I am a police car or something. It was kinda weird the first time it happened, but I have gotten used to it. Its kinda funny riding my bike on past their confused looks.

I would say 2W is certainly bright enough for daylight. (if an LED)

That one should be plenty good. I use a cheapo one from eBay that uses 2 coin cells and it's still bright enough.

I have the MagicShine MJ-818 3W tail light. Very powerful and solid.

I also like and use the ebikes.ca tail light.

Both pricey but solid.

I haven't tried bright daylight strobes yet, but use flouro green and hi-vis orange in combination safety vest and wide ankle strips. Daylight comparison video of front and rear lights from various angles would be cool. Those daylight flashing front and rear lights really command attention. But for me, it's easier to compare different light's levels of brightness in the dark. 8)
Now that you got me goin' I would like to take dozens of small mirrors and attach to my helmet with clear Shoe Goop to make a "disco ball" bike helmet for solar reflectivity. Look Ma, no batteries!

I have a Portland Design Works Danger Zone tail light on both my bike and on my trailer I use for heavier shopping, it has a bright quasi-random flash mode that really attracts attention, runs on two AAA batteries for hours and hours. I use Eneloop rechargeable cells in it. One nice feature is that if the batteries come loose momentarily over a big bump or something the light comes back on after that rather than shutting off, when you change batteries the light comes on when you insert fresh ones and you have to turn it off with the switch.

I also have a four foot tall piece of fishing rod as pole with a bright red silk streamer on it that's about five feet long and flutters around in the wind, one each on the bike and the trailer. I wanted something that drivers could see over the top of the car in front of them, my biggest fear is a car following closely behind another one, the first pulls out at the last moment to go around you and the rear car doesn't see you in time to pull out as well.

On the front I have a PrincetonTek EOS bike headlight set to flashing mode, it uses three more AAA batteries and is bright enough to get attention even in daylight without totally blinding oncoming traffic at night.

On my helmet I have mounted an LED Lenser focusable head mounted flashlight with zip ties which I use for riding in the dark, being able to point the headlight where you want the light is a big advantage when riding in the dark since the handlebar headlight is not pointed significantly to the side you are turning towards at speed. In really heavy traffic I will also turn it on in daylight, when you point it straight toward cars it definitely gets noticed.

This is my old Bike E semi recumbent with the lights and streamers set up, I don't have a decent picture of my new longer bent yet with all the safety features working.

I have this light with the red lens, it's intensely bright. Not sure how you'd attach it to the back of your bike....but you will be seen!
